Posa's food is very good, but the service needs improvement.
I've eaten here a few times in the short time that I've lived in Santa Fe, including a couple days ago when I ordered take out for lunch. When I got back to work, I discovered the order I received was not what I paid for. I had already driven back across town and was on a short lunch break, so I ate it, and it was good! But it wasn't what I ordered. On my way home from work I happened to be driving by Posa's so I stopped in so they could make it right. What did I want? Just something to make up the $2 difference between what I paid for and what I was given. The girl at the counter was apparently not empowered to right this simple wrong, and told me I'd have to come back tomorrow and talk to the manager. Thanks, but I'd already spent more time stopping back by than it was worth.
Today when deciding where to have lunch, a co-worker and I decided on Posa's. Since it had only been a couple days since their mistake, I thought I'd mention it when I ordered. Mistake. I was asked to wait to the side while other customers who came in behind me were helped with their orders. When the manager finally came out I explained what had happened, expecting a quick resolution that was fair to both parties (I suggested a $2 discount on today's order). What I got instead was very surprising. The gentleman I was speaking with turned out to be the owner and was willing only to quote their policy.
Mr. Posa, I assure you I have much better things to do with my time than try to cheat you out of $2 worth of food, as you seem to have assumed. As an owner of a small business, I would have thought you would have welcomed the opportunity to fix such a simple mistake. Instead you told me I should have driven back across town the other day as soon as I discovered your kitchen's error, extending my lunch break and spending more in gas (let alone my time) than the error was worth. When I returned today I mentioned what had happened out of principle, certainly not about $2.
My co-worker witnessed our exchange and decided to ask you for a refund, which you quickly agreed to. Why are you so willing to refund a $12 meal but unwilling to fix a small $2 mistake? I just don't get it. I encourage you to reconsider your "policy" and to recognize opportunities to keep customers, not chase them away. I will not be back, there are simply too many choices in Santa Fe with both great food and service, including the restaurant I ended up at for...
Read moreHonest Reviews We ate at the restaurant early in the morning Friday. The restaurant was not busy at all inside but it appeared to be getting a lot of calls for orders. It smelled good as you walk in, so we decided to order and dine in. We ordered the combination plate Xmas style meaning both green & red based on the recommendation of the cashier helping us. It included beef red chile tamale, green chile relleno smothered in green, & a chicken enchilada with beans and calabacitas and extra side of red and flour tortillas. Also the huevos rancheros red with corn tortillas. The food came out pretty fast although there was probably just one other person eating inside also when we arrived. The combination plate came with a tamale that was ok. The tamales beef had no red chile and not much flavor surprisingly knowing that's what the restaurant is known for. The chicken enchilada was very dry and no flavor. The chille rellenos cheese tasted really good and well stuffed. The beans were well prepared and tasted good. The calabacitas were cooked well but with no flavor. The huevos Ranchero came with beans & rice. The Beans & rice were good, and in all the plate was decent not many ways to mess up that plate. The flour tortillas & corn tortillas weren't heated just probably heat lamp or microwave and not appealing at all. The restaurant spends a lot of money advertising and that's how I learned about it and I thought about visiting the restaurant while visiting santa fe. The staff upfront was great and helpful they also pointed out the owner to us he walked in and sat to talk with his family. It's great the restaurants commercial side is thriving, but the restaurant side is lacking. More attention needs to be paid to the flavor that the cooks are providing for the dining experience and it's something that usually happens when the commercial side is the focus. Although a restaurant in Albuquerque, 'El Modelo'. has figured out a way to perfect both, the commercial and dine in experience offering great food for both sides.
There are so many restaurants in Santa fe that I don't know that I would try it again, due to its lacking flavor, and since I've been trying to visit as many different restaurants when visiting Santa fe weekly. This restaurant was clean both inside and out which was a great accomplishment. The restroom was a little messy disappointing considering it was early and no...
Read moreWorst service ever. "Jaime" the cashier doesn't know their menu and claims to be the manager. Went in today craving tortilla burger and he said they only had a special on the screen, and no others on the menu. I ordered it with a tortilla, then sat down with a take out menu and there it was on the takeout menu...a tortilla burger! I asked him why he didn't tell me about it and he got snappy and didn't answer my question. I then asked for guacamole on my special, and he said it would be on the side (for an additional $4.50). I ordered it on the side, and when he gave me the order I asked to speak to the manager, and of course he said it was him! I then asked for his manager and he was evasive and gave me a bogus name. He then told me when I call to "tell the truth" and then accused me AND my 80-year old mother of lying about what happened just because we were discussing it!!! Adding insult to injury. When I got home discovered order was wrong (no surprise) as I specifically told Jaime NO ONIONS and instead got EXTRA ones!!! (photo taken as proof). And no green chili!!! Apparently "Jaime " the manager is spiteful as I'm sure this was no mistake.
Born and raised in Santa Fe and have frequented both locations for years, and this is the first time I've had such bad service at either restaurant. Needless to say I will travel the extra mile to give my business to the Zafarano location from now on.
SIDE NOTES: Google reviews show an equally bad experience: customers who complained were also made to feel like they were in the wrong; perhaps management needs to look at their employees' training practices. And management responses to negative reviews were just standard apologies with a mere mention to try them again. Sad to know this long-time local business has gone down so much and doesn't care about...
