e had an amazing experience at Peg Leg Pete’s on Pensacola Beach. From the moment we sat down, our server Ruth went above and beyond to make our visit special. She greeted us with a warm smile and took our order quickly, making us feel right at home. Impressively, our drinks arrived almost immediately, ice-cold and refreshing, setting the perfect tone for the meal.

The pacing of the meal was spot-on. Shortly after our drinks, our appetizers came out in perfect timing – hot, fresh, and absolutely delicious. We no sooner finished savoring those when our entrées arrived at just the right moment, piping hot and cooked to perfection. We never felt rushed or waited too long; Ruth had the timing down to an art. Her attentiveness was incredible – she anticipated our needs, kept our glasses full, and checked in with a friendly charm that made us feel truly cared for without ever hovering.

Not only was the service outstanding, but the food was phenomenal. Every dish we ordered was bursting with flavor and beautifully presented. You can tell the ingredients are fresh and high-quality, from the juicy seafood to the perfectly seasoned sides. It’s honestly some of the best seafood we’ve had on the Gulf Coast. We were raving about the rich flavors and generous portions all night. 🍤🤩

What really stands out is how consistently great Peg Leg Pete’s is. This wasn’t our first visit, and every time we come, we leave impressed and satisfied. The restaurant consistently delivers a great experience — fantastic food, fun atmosphere, and service that makes you feel like a VIP. Ruth’s exceptional care on this visit was the cherry on top of an already wonderful track record.

By the end of the night, we were fully delighted – full bellies and big smiles all around. We even told the manager how Ruth made our dinner extra special. This is a place we’ll keep coming back to whenever we’re in Pensacola Beach. Highly recommend Peg Leg Pete’s for anyone looking for delicious food and first-class service.

Thank you, Ruth, and the entire Peg Leg Pete’s team, for a 5-star evening. You’ve earned every one of those five stars! We can’t wait to return and enjoy another...

Update: So I was fairly easily convinced, it's her favorite place on the beach. They have 1.25lbs of crab legs for $30 and that's all there is to that. This time was much better though. Sat at the downstairs bar, didn't have a huge group this time. Bartenders were friendly and the food was good. Buffalo oysters were excellent, as was the calamari and the aforementioned crab legs. My grouper poboy was good, but I would probably just get the grouper bites as is and not in a sandwich again.

Mixed bag. The playground for the kids was nice, the downstairs bartender not so much. Ordered 4 white tea shots, noticed him pouring tequila instead of vodka. He immediately got defensive, said we had to pay for the shots, he knows what he's doing etc...I was with a group of servers and bartenders, no one came at him like that, or accused him of anything. Paid for the 4 shots, ordered 1 with vodka, he slammed it down and wouldn't respond when we tried to pay him. After waiting an hour plus for seating(it was a large group). We were told the table(s) were ready only to find out they were 3 separate tables not really close to each other. We had several small children and leaving them at a table by themselves, or splitting everyone up wasn't ideal. Had to wait another +30min for two tables next to each other that could accommodate us all. Unlike the bartender downstairs, our server was polite and responsive. She got our drink orders and split our tabs while we looked over the menu. Everyone's food arrived correctly and with no issues. The food itself was ok, somewhat typical beach bar seafood. Not the highest quality but not frozen either. The breading in the fried seafood was really thick and salty. I could eat everything, but could really taste my grouper with the breading, that was reminiscent of KFC extra crispy. Prices aren't cheap, but not outlandish, I've spent more and left less satisfied. I could be convinced to come back, but would def explore other options first. I didn't even...

We visited their Pensacola Beach restaurant on Tuesday, July 29th, 2025. They made us sit outdoors where it felt like 108 degrees, which ruined our experience. I was just too damn hot! My wife ordered the blackened grouper, expecting the fish to be pan fried with blackened seasoning. Instead she got fish with black breaded skin from being burned in oil. Yuk! I ordered the chicken sandwich, but it was cooked to hell and as dry as the Sahara Desert! Yuk! They should inject their chicken breasts to make them juicy. I also recommend using chicken thighs (dark meat), which tastes better; and some Cavender's Greek seasoning and Pesto would be nice. Geesh! Who taught these people to cook? What I was served yesterday was totally unacceptable food. It was shameful. The chicken was so dry that I gave half of the sandwich to our dog when we got home, seriously. The sandwich lacked any flavor. We also ordered a dozen parmesan breaded baked oysters, which were delicious and a treat. That being said, for $27 with tax for 12 oysters is way too pricey! The oysters are small, so you don't get much. We went at 11:15 am, but the place was 100% packed full by 11:45, which is not what I would consider a pleasant atmosphere. The restaurant was blasting annoying grunge rock music which was unpleasant. Why don't they play The Beach Boys? It was a mad house! We also bought two non-alcoholic Pina Coladas and one Banana Daquiri for drinks, which totaled $25 with tax. We might go back in the winter, but next time I might try their soup and some baked oysters again. We spent a little over $100 including the tip. If you go here, definitely make reservations for indoors if you want to avoid the extreme heat from being seated outside, and plan to spend at least $100, and prepare for a crammed house. That all being said, we think Peg Leg Pete's bar and grill is highly overrated and nothing special to...

I wanted to avoid this place, say it's a tourist trap but so many locals kept putting this at the top of their list of places to go so....Off we went and planned to give it out best. I don't think we dined at the busiest of times, but the parking was full, but not impossible. The dinner wait was about 45 minutes to 1 hour. We went down to the "Underwhere" bar to have a drink and wait. We also found out that we could eat there from a slightly smaller menu than what's offered upstairs. We enjoyed our wait and sat out near the marina and upstairs at the main bar as we waited. For dinner we were seated in the main area near the host stand which was a great spot to see lots of things and still feel like we were enjoying the FL atmosphere. For dinner, I had the special which was a snapper filet and my husband had some combo with shrimp, scallops and fish, I think. We also had some clams to start with and it was all so, so good. So worth the hype, the wait and our preconceived notions of what this place might be like. I simply can't wait to go back and we will! The low part of our visit was our waitress, who disappeared for so long at one point, we had to ask for help, she forgot entirely to bring my husband's drink. I ordered a piece of their carrot cake to take home. That was the most dismal piece of carrot cake I've ever had. Dense, almost non-existent smear of frosting, and no flavor. How can it not have flavor? She told me it had raisins, which I love, but there was nothing resembling a raisin. If we had eaten it in the restaurant I would have sent it back. Oh well. The atmosphere and the food are great for being on the beach. We were camping at Fort Pickens so this was a convenient choice. Would I drive here if staying further away? Probably not, but I do highly recommend it if you are looking for a place on Pensacola Beach.

This place was packed. Expect to wait 20 to 35 minutes to eat here. But that’s OK because there’s an upper and lower bar inside and outside dining. Avoid the line if you’re a couple. Here’s a tip go to the back of the upper bar. You’ll find a table and two chair chairs in front of the oyster bar facing the water. While you’re waiting for service, which is fast, you can watch the mother shuckers doing their job. We had two appetizers, jumbo shrimp which had a special flavoring on the rim of the glass. It had a little zip to it. Excellent. My wife loved the shrimp stuffed with crab covered with Alfredo sauce. I think she ate them all. Not really. She begrudgingly shared. We also had the gumbo which had rice and vegetables and local fish. What I liked about this gumbo was the sliced shallots on top. To me, it really accented the flavor. It was very good. Our main course was one of the chefs favorite, stuffed grouper and it was baked to perfection. Sometimes grouper can be rubbery, not this grouper it flaked apart, it was perfect. Dang I’m getting hungry as I write this. Side dishes were snow peas and rice. Both were delicious. The stuffed crab was hmm yummy good. We Highly recommend this restaurant. Eating in the back we found the locals very alive and loud. We rolled with and found it extremely entertaining. When we left, we were challenged by the locals. What NFL sports team do we favor? We didn’t say which team, but we were glad to be rid of a certain quarterback. This was our 45th anniversary. It was a lovely evening.
