San Francisco Sourdough Eatery is this hidden gem in the Chevron gas station. The service times are consistently lengthy, but the sandwiches are always great and keep me coming back every time I'm in the area. The best sandwich on the menu is the turkey avocado BLT. It's tough to recommend anything else when this sandwich is steps above the rest. If you get a soda, you can fill up at their drink station, or waltz over to the gas station one which has 3x the options. Be prepared for a decent wait time on your sandwich. The fastest I've gotten mine in the 15+ years I've come here is 8 minutes; the longest is 20 minutes, with the average around 12-15. It's worth the wait. They've got a small dining room to eat at, or just take it to go. It's a sandwich after all. I had to go 4-stars because the service is never something to brag about, but this place is a must-stop if you love a great sourdough sandwich.

Wanted to take my wife out for a quick lunch date. We’re living in Payson and we wanted to try somewhere closer but we saw sour dough and couldn’t resist. We tried two signature sandwiches. The sourdough club and the pastrami topped with coleslaw. Both very different but very good. They said the first started in Boise and the owner really wanted to bring it down to Utah. We decided to buy two loaves 21” to take home and make French toast out of. Both of them were only 4 dollars. Yup coming back!

I stopped by here as I was in the area taking some pics. I had this place in my radar to visit. The gentleman behind the counter if you was chowder in a sourdough bowl come in Friday and before they sell out. Well I made it today and it was AWESOME. The sourdough was crisp and the chowder was AWESOME. The staff worked fast getting food out and they all worked well together. Definitely a place to visit again.

I hate writing this review. We discovered this place as we were heading between Utah County and St. George. We were moving so we were doing the trip pretty much every weekend. We love sourdough bread. The first trip, our sandwiches were awesome and the people were great. On our second trip, they seemed overwhelmed. For whatever reason, my sandwich was heated, and my wife’s was cold. They were the exact same sandwich. Next time, I came through by myself. I ordered a sandwich with double meat, no mayonnaise, no cheese. I got out to my car. It was regular meat with mayo and cheese. When I went back in, the girl was very nice about it, but said she just forgot. She made the sandwich. Next time, I specifically asked for it heated. When they handed it to me, it felt cold. I then reminded him it was supposed to be heated. He took it back from me, unwrapped it, and put it to the oven. The sandwich had mayonnaise, lettuce, etc. on it. I asked him if they always heat up sandwiches with lettuce. He shrugged and said, he would remake it if I wanted him to but he seemed really put out. I said never mind and just took the sandwich as it was. Heated lettuce didn’t sound great. After so many bad experiences, we gave it one last try. There were only two guys working. There were tons of people waiting. It took over 20 minutes. When I finally got my sandwich, almost everything was wrong. I gave up. I just took it and left. We will not go back. It’s heartbreaking because that first sandwich was so good. I don’t think I’ve ever seen an employee in there over the age of 20. When you have a bunch of young kids running everything, what do you expect? They have great quality food, but untrained and overwhelmed workers. Really too bad. This place was going to be our stop...

They make delicious sandwiches, but the service here is truly terrible.

I literally just waited 27 minutes in the drive through today before I left. You can't make someone wait in your drive through for almost a half hour after taking their order. At the very least you need to tell them there is an extended wait time!

To add context, there was ONE car in front of me. When I left they still had not received their order. And i had to back out, remove an orange cone someone had placed behind me (so obviously something war wrong inside, but no one bothered to let me know).

Note, today was particularly bad, but this is not the first time I've had excessive wait times in their drive through of 15 to 20 minutes or more.

I love their sandwiches enough I've been willing to risk the hit and miss service from time to time. But, it's been bad enough lately, they're losing me. Note, I had an engagement I had to get to, so I could not just keep waiting. I didn't leave just because I was frustrated. Fortunately no one else was behind me so I even had the...
