Completely unsanitary conditions. I would like to give zero stars. 4 days ago the woman preparing my sandwiches had no mask on, so I asked her to please put one on. She said it was too hot to wear a mask. I told her that I was uncomfortable with her preparing my food without one. Then I got the "eye roll" and attitude as I watched her grab a used mask from a shelf above the food prep area. She made a big deal of putting it on, touching the dirty mask, her hair, her nose, and her ears. Then without washing her hands, she went straight to where they keep the bread and pulled new bread out with those dirty hands. At that point, I was completely disgusted and cancelled my order. As I was leaving, I watched her put that contaminated bread right back with their fresh bread.
So later on, I called and asked to speak to the owner. I figured I'd give him a chance to correct the situation first. I was not allowed to speak to the owner, but a man who identified himself as the manager came on the line. He was extremely hostile to me and said, "You have no reason to make any complaints because you cancelled your order!" Seriously? I cancelled my order because of unsanitary conditions! Even without Covid, her actions violated normal health codes regarding hand washing. If they do that right in front of customers, who knows how unsanitary they are with nobody watching.
I had left my number for the owner to call me back. He never did. So I called the store again today and asked for the owner. I got the same "manager" who started yelling at me again, saying that since I cancelled the order, I had no right to complain, and that the owner is too busy to call me back.
The thing is, I really liked their food, and was trying to give the new owner a chance to make things right. I guess that's not going to happen. Sad.
UPDATE: The owner’s later response to me below is completely unsatisfactory. She’s still defending her employee not wearing a mask because of the heat, when every other restaurant we go to seems to be wearing masks and following health department mandates. Maybe they need more ventilation? Also, her employee touching her dirty mask, face, and hair right in front of me, then not washing her hands before touching my bread has zero to do with heat, and everything to do with just...
Read moreFirst off, this place is not fox's pizza den. I found it very snakeish to use the same sign even though they changed the middle of it from the old logo to GIANT. They also are using the same Google page as foxs pizza den. Which is messed up because they didn't earn all of the loyal customers and they didn't earn all of the previous reviews. I have gone to the new FOXS GIANT PIZZA twice now. The food is obviously not horrible but the lasagna and other red sauce applications are weird and not my favorite. My problems are that for one, they are not following proper covid precautions. They posted sings yet they don't keep their mask on. Even while making your food. Its not even covid, its standard food prep guidelines that are being crossed. Now the second thing is, the business is run by two brothers. The brother that is usually at the counter to ring me up is very nice. I appreciate him trying to make a point to use his customer service voice on the phone and in person. However, the other brother answers the phone rudely, or at least he has to me. He talks like he hates his life and his job and doesn't really care about the customers. If you are going to be the sound and face of the company, you should probably not act that way. This is just my experience as of yet. I am not ready to give up on my local pizza joint, but they have not made a great overall impression. They may have already changed their actions. They may be using these reviews to better themselves and see them as things to work on to be a great business. In which case I say, keep moving forward, keep bettering yourselves everyday, and make your pizza place the best in East County. You...
Read moreFirst time ordering here. Exceptional customer service by Romeo, super helpful, and he has a vibe like a neighborhood staple mom-and-pop "known the family for years on a first name basis" kind of vibe.
Their menu has a wide selection of delicious sounding options (and quite a few)! Rarely have I seen a pizza joint's menu with such a wide selection of "specialty" pizzas that are right up my alley (and then some); many of the options are "classic," and most have one or more additional ingredients that I've often wanted at other pizza places but had to choose if the extra ingredient(s) (i.e. garlic or basil or ricotta etc.) was(were) worth paying extra.
In addition to pizza, other enticing options seemingly unique to Fox's Giant Pizza menu have me looking forward to trying the rest of their menu. Evidently their sauce and wings get rave reviews. Overall just a great selection here that rounds the menu out nicely into whether you're feeling like traditional eats or buffalo fries or philly fries. enticing specialty pizzas. And classics. With a home town vibe.
If I return to edit this review it's because something was outside a 5-star rating. I wrote this before the delivery gets here, namely because Romeo made an exemplary first impression, which, I'm confident spoke not only to the quality of Fox's service but also to their establishment as a whole... vibe, service, ingredients, menu options, food, flavors... looking forward to finding Fox's Giant Pizza is in our neighborhood and evidently has been for years....
