After searching for a special place to go, we decided to go here. I wish we never had. It was an awful experience. There was a sign on the door to wait here to be seated, so we waited and no one came out. I opened the door and ask for help. A woman screamed from the back and said to get out nobody was allowed in there. Then a man ask me did we have reservations and I said no do we need one? Then before he could answer the same women came closer and said you can't be in here get out. I said I was just trying to find out what we need to do. She said you need to wait outside very rudely. I said well maybe we won't wait, she said again very rudely, well I guess that's your choice. We waited outside for a few more minutes and the man came out and I ask if we could be seated and he ask if we wanted to sit out front on basically a concrete table. I ask what about one of the 5 or six tables that has a nice tablecloth, he said those are reserved. After that we left. Never go here, it was our first and last time there. We left and went to Pescones off of University. We were treated...

Such a disappointing visit after several great meals at this restaurant. My Linguine Carbonara had zero flavor and the pasta was drowning in sauce. The worst Carbonara I've ever had...I thought Mona Lisa would knock it out the park, but didn't. My husband asked to substitute chicken for veal when he ordered the Saltimbocca, but he received veal. He was OK with this, but said it wasn't like the veal he's had here before...a little on the tough side and very salty. We had the PEI mussels as an appetizer and they were very good. However, had to ask for more bread (which is a tiny "loaf" to begin with) and a spoon for the sauce. Little details like this were missed and seem like they should be a no brainer. It may have been an off night, and we will...

I’m town for my daughter’s Regatta. I went out of my way to find this restaurant. The place was empty. I walked in the door and looked for someone to seat us. I was confronted by what looked like a server. “Can I help you” with an attitude! I said yes I’d like a table. She responded with a real attitude “This is a reservation only restaurant and we’re booked!”. What??? How about “Do you have a reservation?”. No. I’m sorry but we are completely booked tonight. Just plain rude! I was pretty shocked because It had a lot of nice reviews none of which mentions reservation in any way. Oh well. Have a little tact. I spent real time finding this place and reading reviews and then drove all the...

Mona Lisa restaurant is one of our favorites in all of Sarasota. We eat out a lot: Downtown, Lakewood Ranch, St Armand's Circle, Longboat Key... you're not going to find better, more dependable Italian food than Mona Lisa. The owner-hostess is wonderful and the rest of the staff is attentive and professional. The outdoor seating is so peaceful and the inside is cozy and not tight. Meatballs, excellent! Veal picatta, amazing! Seafood fradiavolo, perfection! Fried calamari, linguine carbonara, lasagna, spinach ravioli, chicken parmesan.... the chef is a master.

Don is a culinary master. This quaint yet extremely cozy restaurant is one of the best hidden gems of Sarasota. Sit inside or outside, Mona Lisa doesn’t have a bad seat in the house. Thank you to Danielle our wonderful waitress that had the perfect recommendations and wine pairings for the meal. 10/10 would recommend to any snow bird or Resident of Sarasota.

Great Italian food with fantastic service. This was our first visit and we sat outside on a covered patio which was very comfortable and not pretentious. The view from the patio is lovely and is in a park like setting with a small lake. The food was fresh and melted in our mouths! Can't wait to return and stuff myself again! Thanks for the great service!
