Waffle House — Restaurant in Satsuma

The one star was for the cooks. They deserve a five star, however the rest leaves a lot to be desired. When we entered the place had napkins, paper and food all over the floor. Several tables had not been cleaned. Thought there must have been a rush because I have never seen a Waffle House this dirty. Found a booth that appeared to be clean, but when we got closer the table still had crumbs on it and the seat had syrup on it. Went to the counter and asked for a wet rag, which they gave me and went and cleaned the area myself. Waiter showed up and I told him I did not like sitting in syrup and he laughed. While we ate and the entire time we were there all the garbage stayed on the floor. There was actually food stuck to the walls. We observed the wait staff if you can call them that , sitting at the counter, standing around talking and watching videos on their phones. Really wonder what the owner thinks he is paying for. Not one even glanced at the condition of the place, just continued to walk through it and ignore it. There were several times when a section became empty but still no effort was made to clean it. We checked out and asked the cashier why no one cleaned as they has at least 9 employees and no less than 3 were standing around on their phones at any given time. Her answer was that they cleaned around 2pm. So you let your customer wade trough the garbage until then??? She stated that she didn't do anything to us and it was not her fault. Then we asked for the manager believing she would not be as rude and defensive. WRONG! She was worse. At least we understand why the staff is how they are. If the owner reads this...you need to hire a real manager and wait staff that understands their job. You are paying people to play on their phones while your establishment is filthy. The excuse the manager gave that they don't sweep around customers, just does not hold water. Yes, I can see that but there were several times the end section was empty and guess where your waitstaff was??? Yes, sitting in the booth on top of all the garbage instead of cleaning it! I had some school work I had to do so I came here after driving all day. When I came in all the tables were dirty and needed clean. Just missed the rush I thought it would be great timing. However the waitress made it seem like I was an inconvenience. I ordered a coffee she took 10 mins to refill first time but second time refilled before empty after that nothing. I told her I wanted to start with small grits and slice of cheese. I got instead a large grit no cheese. They were busy so I did not push. She then brought the check and I said I may get more. She never came back. Forty minutes went by before I left still have other work to get done and now need to go find some more food elsewhere. Terrible experience I won’t be back. I drive a small RV, and I'm disabled, so I do a lot of order online and pick up to go. I sat in the parking lot and ordered food for myself and my boys. It was ready to go exactly at the time the text said it would be. The food was hot, perfectly cooked, and EXACTLY what I ordered, right down to the gravy. It is extremely rare for EVERYTHING to be right when ordering pick up to go. I can't even stress that enough. My order was PERFECT. It was hot and good and seasoned just right. I was greeted when I walked in, and I was almost immediately approached so I could ask about the to go order. Everyone was very friendly.
