After their one year anniversary, I finally stopped by last night with my daughter and the experience was beyond wholesome for so many reasons, including the food of course. Rashad & Laerth, being the humble gentlemen that they are, didn’t make too much noise about their opening. Probably because they wanted the food to speak for itself. Working alongside these guys back when they were just teenagers (who even back then took pride in the quality of their work & the food they were putting out) to seeing them flourish in their own restaurant is incredible.
All mushy stuff aside, the atmosphere is cozy. And the service was super friendly, but not at all over bearing. They know how to read the room. I also enjoyed the visuals… Loud, colorful wallpaper, faux brick & their original logo. Very Instagram worthy backdrop. (Yea, that’s a thing as cringe as it sounds… go ahead roll your eyes lol). We had the wedding soup to start & although it had chopped pieces of their homemade meatballs instead of the traditional tiny ones, the flavor hit. Wasn’t too salty and had plenty of greens. It also came with fresh dinner rolls for dipping!
For entrees, my daughter had the chicken broccoli alfredo & I had the baked salmon. Usually you have to choose between quality or quantity, but here there was zero compromising. Portions are hefty & the flavor & freshness is on point. Happy to say I have lunch for today. The salmon came with two portions & the house topped it with a special baked shrimp. 💜 (Thank you)The spices kind of reminded me of a garlic miso sauce. My only critique would be to go easier on the garlic and spices so the salmon can shine through a bit more. And a little less bay leaf in the rice as bay leaf can easily overpower the other flavors in any dish. I cannot forget to mention the grilled veggies! Mmmmmmm so simple but sooo delicious and satisfying.
The sister keeping the front of house operations running smoothly is not to go unrecognized. She is a rare gem & they are fortunate to work with her. Goodfellas lives up to the hype AND their name. They genuinely are good people who care about their community & deserve all the success & blessings to come. Def gonna take more pics nexts...
Read moreToday my wife and I took our 14 and 11 y/o daughters from the seacoast NH area to the New England Aquarium and - that was awesome btw - stopped at Goodfellas on the way home based on the fantastic Google reviews. There is NO WAY I can speak highly enough of the experience. The owners were beyond gracious, moving tables, offering menu advice, anything and everything to accommodate our family. Hell, they even gave us free garlic bread, which was outstanding. My daughter - who's a bread freak - noted that it was perfecto, not too crunchy and not soft. My wife and I shared the Chicken Broculetini, which I've never had or heard of but ordered on the advice of the proprietor, and it was FANTASTIC! 5 stars good. My older daughter ordered the Chicken Caesar Wrap which she says is "amazing". My younger daughter ordered the Kids Chicken Finger and Fries and loved it. She noted that "the fries actually taste like potatoes", which many, many don't. We liked our food so much we ordered two large pizzas, the Margarita and the Deluxe. The plan was to order them to go. Yeah, no. We dug in - had to - and they were as good as everything else. The only critique I have is for whomever didn't give Goodfellas the full 5 stars. The place is authentic, miles away from Boston's bustling downtown and 100% unassuming. Oh yeah, and it's the best Italian I've had. We're planning a trip next Sunday to the MIT and Harvard museums and we'll damn skippy be going to Goodfellas on...
Read moreWe visited Goodfellas on our way back to Boston from Gloucester after a day of whale watching. The high reviews and food photos helped our decision to give this restaurant a try for dinner. This place definitely deserves the 4.9 rating that it has! The service was absolutely impeccable! We were greeted the second we stepped foot in the door which provided a very welcoming vibe. The staff was very polite, friendly and helpful. They explained a little about the restaurant, menu and provided recommendations. We started off by sampling a slice of their cheese and Buffalo chicken pizzas. Both were great, but this was THE BEST cheese pizza my husband and son had ever tasted! The crust was super thin, yet crispy. The crust had a great taste even on its own.
We ordered the BBQ Chicken Ranch salad, cheese lasagna, Chicken Broculetini with mushroom tortellini and a couple of slices of cheese pizza. All our food was amazing! This was the best meal we have our entire vacation. This crew works hard to prepare everything fresh and they take a lot of pride in their food and it shows! All our food arrived steaming hot and the flavors were incredible! The chicken broculetini was something you would find in a fine dining italian restaurant, it was that good! We will definitely go out of our way to stop here next time we visit the Boston area! Run, don’t walk to try this hidden gem!...
