The Yooper Pasty Company — Restaurant in Sault Ste. Marie

We found this little gem looking for a good frozen pasty to take home coming back from the U.P., I was craving a good home made pasty and this hit the spot! We picked up the regular beef and a chicken pot pie and a dessert one that was strawberry rhubarb. We had the dinner pasties tonight with the gravy for each and these are really good. I thought the cheesy chicken gravy was so good it could be a soup! I didn't eat in the restaurant as I took them home but it's a neat little place from what I did see. Hours were a little strange for me with them being closed Friday thru Sunday for the winter. It wasn't a deal breaker, I would have liked to be able to come in for lunch one of the days I was visiting, the hours made that impossible. I was in the Soo for work last week and picked up 20 pasties for friends downstate. Everybody has been raving about them and asking when I will go back up to bring some more back. Heidi is a wonderful business owner. She insisted that I get there the morning I was leaving so I could have them fresh. She had just pulled them out of the oven and packaged them in a box for me when I arrived the next morning. By the time I got them back to the Detroit area, they were still warm and people loved them. This is a wonderful family business and I urge you to support them with your dollars and patronage. Like many, I saw this place on YouTube and I am so glad I visited with my coworkers when in town. The food was amazing, we all got the spicy beef with a side of beef gravy and we all cleaned our plates. The service was maybe the best I’ve ever experienced in my life, the gentleman behind the counter, he also came out to check on us while eating and continued our conversation, was so incredibly kind and also proud of what he and his wife have built and they should be! Bring your favorite VHS tape, grab a rocking chair and tv tray and make yourself at home. 10/10 experience, will be back next time...
