Bayley's Seafood Restaurant — Restaurant in Scarborough

If I could rate this a zero, I would. The whole experience was a nightmare. From the ordering process to the end. You order at one window and either your food gets brought to an area near the dining room, or your number gets called and you take your food to go.. We ordered the lobster/steamer dinner with fries and 2 waters. The waters were in plastic cups and served first. After 35 minutes of waiting our food was brought out and the fries and second set of utensils were missing. When I asked for them, I was looked at like I was asking for gold. The lobster and steamers were in Iittle mesh bags and the gave plastic utensils to eat. How do you Crack a lobster shell with plastic utensils? You don't. you use your hands like an animal if you want to eat ! They served this in cardboard bowls that got soaked with water. The steamers were so gritty, that they could not be eaten. Sat. Sept 21, 2019. I didn't even want to give you one star. My husband and I wanted to eat lunch outside near the ocean because it was such a beautiful day. We decided to get take out at Bayley's because of the on line reviews seemed pretty good. I wasn't really very hungry so we decided to share a seafood combo dinner and chose fried haddock and shrimp. It also came with fries, slaw and a roll. We also each got a vanilla milkshake at Bayley's Ice Cream next door, which turned out to be the best part of the meal. We drove a couple of miles down the road and parked by the ocean views to each our lunch. The size of the piece of haddock fit in the palm of my hand, and the so called shrimp looked like small pieces of deep fried batter--in fact, there wasn't even any shrimp inside some of the fried batter. The meal cost was as expected during tourist season however, compared to the competition around them I would say I was disappointed in the quality and quantity. My wife and I shared a seafood combo dinner with Haddock and Shrimp and added a bowl of clam chowder. The platter smelled a little too fishy for my preference. The haddock was ok but not stellar for the price. The shrimp tasted good but to me it sort of tasted like they had been previously frozen. Not sure. The fries were good and crispy. The clam chowder was acceptable but not as good as their competition near them.
