More like the master bait shed.
Was stoked to try this place out as all the reviews pretty much put this place on a pedestal.
Location is 5 star.
Right on the water.
Get a seat on the pier if you can.
We ordered the mussels & a single lobster roll.
LR - $28 M - ?$16?
Mussels couldn't have been more underwhelming if they if they tried.
Very little broth in the serving pan and the two Lil dinner rolls they were served with looked like they just got off the truck from jj nissan.
I wouldn't go to Kansas and order seafood but if I did, I'd expect it to taste like these mussels did.
I ordered the single lobster roll with a side of butter.
Also available as a double, triple, or quadruple for the gordo's.
Since I'm not a savage, so I didn't order my LR with mayo, but it is available and by the looks of it, quite popular, as one of the ham planets sitting behind us was smashing his quadruple miracle whip roll into his dome as if a seagull were going to steal the beast from him. He also had a giant wad of whip hanging off his mutton chops after he ate, so there's that.
Anywu, the LR came and was slim pikins. For starters, it came on what I would expect to get a footlong weiner served on.... which is great if your going all in and getting previously mentioned 2x, 3x, or the 4x aka fat kid special.
The lobster was shredded into purty small pieces, which is a giant red flag, but I managed to deconstruct it, rip of a half yard of the excess filla, reconstruct the beyotch, and hammer down.
I went bite for bite on it w my girl, and we both agreed that it was terminally mediocre, at best.
Slightly disturbing side note here: we saw folks at many of the tables just tossing their food remnants n shtuff overboard into the water below (remember we are seated on a pier here).
Now I'm no marine biologist, but I don't think that is the most environmentally sound practice. The sea was angry that day my friend.
Besides the location the only other redeeming quality this place had was their wait staff. Alison in particular couldn't have been nicer. Personality...

Read moreWe’ve lived in Scarborough for 15 years and have never been to the Bait Shed. We decided to have a late date lunch, made childcare arrangements and headed over at 1:30 on Friday, July 18, 2025. Parking is challenging- it’s a small and tight parking lot but managed to get an open spot. The hostess was noticeably unfriendly and seemed irritated by our presence from the moment we arrived. Her attitude set a negative tone and lacked the warmth and hospitality one would expect. There were dozens of long and wide picnic tables. When we arrived, four of them were open but the hostess sat us at a tiny “nightstand” that stood out like a sore thumb. I asked if we could switch to a picnic table and she seemed so insulted! I asked how can two plates and app and drinks all fit? She proceeded to tell us that sometimes people line the condiments, napkins and other items on the railing. It was SO windy! So windy that they had a sign posted that said they could not use umbrellas on the picnic tables that day. Not sure how that would have worked lining things on the railing. Also, I’m sorry, Im not spending $150 for lunch to be crammed into a corner. This table is so ridiculously small and right at an intersection. It shouldn’t even be there! Needless to say, the rude hostess went on to say that there was now a 30 minute wait (with no one in line and 4 open tables) and this was it. We left and went to the Sea Salt in Saco…where the hostess and waitress were incredibly friendly, the food was delicious, and we were sat at a legitimate table in the shade! Best decision. Will never be back to...
