First time visit, definitely the last. I don’t usually leave reviews, regardless of level of service and/or quality of food; I understand everyone can have an off day. But this was one of those visits that angered me.
My wife and I were out for a quick, quiet weekend. She wanted to try this place, and we were further encouraged to do so earlier in the day by local shop owners.
We arrived around 7pm, and were promptly seated. We were served iced water immediately and our order was taken rather quickly. Food came out in a respectable amount of time, so everything seemed fine.
A male employee, may have been some type of management, asked those seated around us how everything was, and if anything was needed. Okay, we had just been served, so he was giving a chance to at least begin our meal. The appetizer was okay, but obviously, my wife was more forgiving and really enjoyed it. When I began my entree, I was really disappointed. Zero flavor. I actually thought some of my Covid side effects had lingered, and I simply had lost my taste. However, I offered my wife some, and she agreed that it was really bland. She ordered a salad and loved it, so possibly a poor menu selection on my part. I understand these things happen.
What I don’t understand, and what I find unacceptable, is what I was observing after we had been served. Another employee, this time a female and possibly some type of management, checked the customers seated at every table around us. By this time, my glass of ice water was almost empty, my ordered beverage was completely empty, and the uneaten portion of my entree remained on the table. In addition to the two employees I mentioned checking on the other tables, I did notice waitstaff also checking with these other tables.
Now, I will admit my wife and I were dressed in clean tee shirts and blue jeans, but we are absolutely capable of paying our bill and providing a generous tip. It became all too apparent that the staff at this establishment, based on our appearance, deemed that we may not have provided sufficient tip for service they would have rendered if we had simply dressed in different clothing. That was the only difference between us, and the guests at the surrounding tables. I feel the best service we received was from the gentleman who served our water and provided a to-go box for what was remaining of my meal. (I have chickens, and they will eat damn near anything)
Lesson here: If you wish to receive acceptable service at this establishment, at least west a...
Read moreI drove 30 minutes to Garden Co today to take my teens to a nice late lunch. The restaurant closes at 3 but we knew what we wanted and had simple orders ready to go. We arrived at the front door at 220. We were "greeted" by the crankiest hostess and she very rudely says, "We close at 3, just so you know." I shook my head yes because I, in fact, do already know. She seated us, and I tried to immediately say "hey, we all just want sweet tea," to get our order going quickly. She walked off mid-sentence!! The server was polite and brought us our tea and took our order. Side note - The restaurant closes at 3 pm on Saturdays to get ready for dinner and opens again at 5. The exceptionally rude hostess who has to be named Karen decided it was time to redecorate every single table around us at 230 pm. She was sliding the tables all over the wooden floor. It was very loud, very obnoxious, and very disruptive to our lunch. We had ordered a burger, Korean tacos, and tzatziki salad. The burger was a mess, the tacos were super salty, and there was no sign of tzatziki anywhere near my salad. We ordered and ate and were out the door by 252 pm. They made $118 off us in 30 minutes and I can guarantee you I will take my $118 elsewhere next time. It was all mediocre at best and the atmosphere was...
Read moreSaw the reviews and it made us turn around from an intended stop to come here. Outside of the building the garden beautiful! The ambiance was magnificent. A very friendly hostess seated us; but, the server approached rushed and seemed aggravated. She didn't say hello, she didn’t introduce yourself, she just said, “what can I get you to drink.” She seemed aggravated and annoyed by anything we asked...even when asking if there were any flavored teas. While we waited I went to the restrooms which were dirty. My husband ordered the grilled chicken sandwich which was delicious! The kid’s burger my son got was really too big for a child but was great tasting. I didn’t like the kettle chips that are served in place of your regular fries for two reasons 1) they’re seasoned but that's not in the description 2) the price...for the price you're paying something more substantial is warranted.I ordered the chicken salad sandwich which was dripping with watery taste and overly sweet. When I expressed I didn’t like it & tried to explain, she got really upset and snapped, “so you want anything else?” I was sad because we were on a Father’s Day trip we’re trying to find a cute little place to enjoy a lunch that we might possibly return to. The nursery...
