Stepping into this gem of a spot, I was immediately struck by the genuine warmth radiating from the wait staff—a refreshing change of pace that set the tone for a memorable dining experience. The star of the show, without a doubt, was the sandwich. Crafted with an evident passion for flavor and texture, it wasn't just good; it was a masterclass in sandwich-making that left my taste buds singing praises.

The seating area, while on the cozier side, added to the charm of the place. We happened to time our visit just right, snagging a spot without a wait. I could easily envision a bustling Sunday morning here, with eager patrons vying for a seat. It's the kind of problem you don't mind seeing at a beloved local haunt—indicative of their success and the community's embrace.

Despite the potential for a crowded space, the ambiance remained pleasantly undisturbed. The hum of conversation was there, but it never escalated to a disruptive din, allowing for an enjoyable meal where you could savor each bite and still hold a conversation.

This visit won't be my last. The combination of delectable fare, amiable service, and inviting atmosphere has firmly established this place on my go-to list for a satisfying meal. In a world where dining experiences can be hit or miss, this spot hits the mark with remarkable...

I brought my niece, her husband, and their 3 boys in for breakfast. They had just come from little league tournaments in Cooperstown, NY, and were headed back to Colorado. We only had time for a quick breakfast, and even though I hadn't been to the G Lodge in years, I took a chance and recommended that we eat there. It was around 10:00 a.m., so it wasn't crowded. A friendly, male waiter brought us our drinks, then a female took our order. She seemed in a bad mood, and got frustrated over what should have been a very simple order. Yes, there were 6 of us, but it wasn't a complicated order, and the kids were very polite. I told my family, "welcome to the east coast, where friendliness is optional". After she took our order, she was complaining about something to the man who sits at the register. Surprisingly, our order was correct, and the food was good. Our waitress became very nice as we were leaving the table. I'm sure she saw that I was getting the tip together. My parents taught me to never take my problems to work with me, but I guess not everyone is given...

This place does a wonderful job offering classic breakfasts well. You won't find a lot of elaborate dishes or anything fancy, but if you like classic diners, good American breakfast food and historical charm, this place is for you. I went for lunch for the first time recently and tried their grilled cheese with caramelized onions. Probably not for calorie counters, but it was damn tasty!

The bathrooms are unfortunately a detractor, barely fitting one person, but you'll have to forgive some of the outdated designs due to this being a true landmark from the revolutionary era.

Oh, and M. Night Shamalan's "The Happening" had several scenes filmed on location here. It doesn't make the food any better or worse, but a cool bit of trivia.

The staff are also extremely personable. They do a great job making you feel welcome. I can't stress that enough. Even though the food is super tasty in it's own right, the service makes you want to go back...

I had lunch at G Lodge Café and loved it! I ordered the tuna salad sandwich on whole wheat bread super fresh, light, and generously filled, served with crispy potato chips. My husband tried the steak omelet, which was hearty and flavorful, with tender meat, perfectly cooked eggs, and golden hash browns topped with ketchup, so good! The atmosphere is charming and rustic, with a cozy stone fireplace and antique decor that makes you feel like you’re in a countryside cabin. Service was fast and friendly, and there’s easy parking. The outdoor fence area is a new inclusion and they serve ice cream and cafe. A great spot for a peaceful lunch near Phoenixville!

Different cheesesteak #1,000 in the last four years. I love Jim T’s cooking and this is old building. Mark Wahlburg filmed a movie here with M Night Shyamalan. Jim cooks a very good ribeye. When I go back I am going to get the ribeye in one of the other 5 menu items. Probably the cheesesteak omelette. Everything was good, for me it just didn’t work as a cheesesteak. I don’t hate kaiser rolls. It had a good amount of cheese surrounding the meat but I like it mixed together. Jim’s ribeye doesn’t really need mushrooms and onions but mushrooms and onions can enhance good ribeye. I would have liked more mushrooms and onions.
