⭐️ Disappointing Experience at Popeyes Truck Stop Location This visit to Popeyes was one of the worst fast food experiences I’ve had—not because of the food itself, but because of the manager’s unprofessional and rude behavior. Despite being fully staffed and not busy, the overall experience left a lot to be desired, primarily due to her actions and attitude. The Good The staff on the line and at the counter were genuinely friendly and attentive. The cashier was polite, and the young man bagging our food was courteous and seemed to enjoy his job. They were doing their best to create a welcoming environment, and we appreciated their efforts. The ghost pepper chicken sandwich was enjoyed by one of our friends, and the apple pie was warm and flavorful. These were the few bright spots in an otherwise disappointing visit. The Bad Unfortunately, the manager completely ruined what could have been a decent experience. Her poor attitude and visible disdain for us were impossible to ignore. From the moment we walked in, she made it clear we weren’t welcome. Her demeanor toward the staff was just as discouraging—she actively deterred them from engaging with us while we were asking questions about the menu. We weren’t holding up the line—there was no line! If someone came in, we made space and encouraged them to order ahead of us while we finalized our choices. We were polite, considerate, and simply excited to see what options were available. However, it was clear that our happy-go-lucky demeanor didn’t sit well with the manager, who seemed determined to make the experience as uncomfortable as possible. The Order Issues To make matters worse, our order—nearly $70 worth of food—was riddled with errors: • Missing items: large sides were not included except the large macaroni and cheese • Incorrect sides: We ordered large portions of all sides but received three small rice and beans and a side of gravy for the mash potatoes we didn’t receive and a small coleslaw. • Food quality: The fries were limp and cold, and the biscuits were overly salty. We tried calling the location afterward to address the missing items and mistakes but no one answered. By then, we were so frustrated that it wasn’t worth pursuing further. The Ambiance While the staff was doing their best, the manager’s attitude set a dreary tone for the entire experience. This wasn’t just about her being rude; it actively affected the quality of service. The atmosphere felt unwelcoming, and her obvious disdain for us created unnecessary tension. The customers before and after us didn’t seem to face the same treatment, so perhaps being a regular earns you better service here. Regardless, everyone should be treated with respect, especially when spending $70 at a fast food restaurant. Final Thoughts This Popeyes location had potential, thanks to the hardworking staff, but the manager’s poor attitude and lack of professionalism ruined the entire experience. Missing food, incorrect orders, and subpar quality only added to the frustration. We were polite and patient throughout our visit, but there’s no excuse for the treatment we received. If Popeyes wants to maintain its reputation, they need to train their management to lead by example and ensure orders are accurate. We won’t be returning to this location, and based on this experience, I’d encourage others to avoid it as well.

I’ve been to several Popeyes and this one by far is the best of the best. The longest I have waited for my food at this location was approximately 10 to 15 minutes for freshly fried chicken. Any other location I have visited in the past has literally been a 60 to 90 minute wait. And that’s not an exaggeration (visit the Popeyes in Taylor or Detroit sometime). The food here is absolutely delicious, always cooked with love, and finger licking good! I have never had any of my large family orders ever messed up or missing a thing. Be sure to try those strawberry biscuits because they are to die for! Especially if you put Mac and cheese and a piece of classic chicken on it. This combination together will change your life and have your tastebuds dancing. The hot spicy chicken sandwich is fabulous and pairs perfectly with the Cajun fries. Whether you’re in the mood for classic or spicy chicken, it’s always paired best with the regular biscuits. The coleslaw, mashed potatoes, and Mac and cheese are all on point, especially when you pair them with their chicken tenders. The customer service here along with the quality of food is why my family and I keep coming back. Mr. Will is the friendliest manager I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. He not only treats his employees with the upmost respect, but also takes the time to treat each customer with a super professional and personable touch. This man is the definition of a leader and it certainly shows as I have seen him interact with his employees. Norman is an excellent cashier and team member who has a wonderful sense of humor with a gleeful personality. James is one of the hardest working cooks in the back that I have ever seen. Every time we come here he is always smiling, killing it on the fryer, communicating to the front on what needs stocked, and an absolute joy to converse with. All these fellas, along with many other evening employees here are hard working, dedicated, full of life, passionate about their work, super kind, extremely friendly, will go the distance to make you smile, and ensure your experience is most enjoyable. The team work they all display in the workplace is phenomenal. The keep the diner clean, sanitary, and well maintained along with the fountain drink area. The trash is always taken care of and the floor is always spotless. I highly recommend this establishment to anyone who is local or just passing through.

Sunday 11:30... churches are just starting to let out, families are getting together for lunch, and I, and over the road longhaul trucker was thinking, chicken sounds good on a Sunday afternoon. The place wasn't busy, so I figured I'd go in and sit and eat. I offered my food (4pc spicy with mashed potatoes)... got my drink and sat patiently waiting for my name to be called... customers came ordered, got their food (none of which were spicy). 20 mins pass, and I food the counter... they "accidently" bumped my order off the board. That happens, I've accidently done that. Legs and thighs were all that were left.. I am ok with that... no biscuits... a guy came in and wanted to order some chicken, "we aren't cooking any till we sell these last three, but it'll be 15 mins". He walked out, another couple came in, tried to order, same story on the chicken and stared that they didn't have anything else they wanted prepared yet and it would be a wait... I was like 12:30 on a Sunday afternoon and you don't have stuff ready for lunch? No Bueno! Not coming back.

2pm in the afternoon. I installed the app for Popeye's and ordered 4 pieces of chicken with biscuit, customized to 2 legs and 2 thighs. Arriving at the Dexter Popeye's (no line), I pulled up to the window and was reprimanded for not stopping at the speaker and announcing my arrival.... ok... that's different from other Popeye's and other fast food, but ok.

When my order came out, it was not the 2 legs and 2 thighs ordered. It took awhile to get their attention to ask for a corrected order (even honking the horn and waving didn't get attention).

They wanted to know if it was specified on my online order (yes). Then they stated it wasn't on their order and that I should have specified the customization (again) when I arrived. All with an attitude that the mix up and issue was my fault (whoa).

The order was submitted using the Popeye's app, was customized and verified before being paid online that the 2 legs and 2 thighs customization was present.

Unacceptable service to give attitude to a paying customer that used their system and presumed it should work.

I won't be back to this Popeye's due to the attitudes and treatment. It cost you a 10+ year customer to this location. Highly recommend using a different Popeye's, definitely cannot support the Dexter, Mi....
