I live in Madison and they took our sonic out a few years back so me and my fiance both had been wanting sonic for a while now. so we made the 30 minute drive to the sonic in Scottsburg. We got chicken tenders, mozzarella sticks, 2 slushies and tried the new phillycheesesteaks. The drinks were 90% ice and couldnt seem to find any of the "real fruit" my fiance said the cheesesteaks was real average my 3pc chicken tender somehow only came with 2 pieces but my mozzarella sticks were good. Then today we drove back up to go to popeyes and I said I wanted to try getting a different slushie from sonic hoping It would turn my opinion around on them. This time it took 10minutes before we could finally get someone on the intercom to order. we told them we wanted 2 famous slushies and the new oreo waffle cone for 2.49 but wanted it in the cup they offer as an option. the guy tells us to hold on. 5minutes goes by. Then a girl comes over and asked if we had slushies I said yes but we ordered the waffle cone in a cup too she said ok, 5minutes later I see on our screen it says oreo sonic blast added for 5.49 so I got out the car found the girl told her I didnt want the sonic blast I just wanted the waffle cone in a cup or whatever that is equivalent to. She said I'm sorry I'll fix it. Another 15 mins goes by she shows up with our slushies and a large oreo sonic blast.. I told her I didnt want the large oreo blast I just wanted a waffle cone in a cup.. why do they advertise "to try it in a cup" if it then makes it some huge blizzard? Anyways a manager came out his name was James he explains that it is the equivalent to the waffle cone. But you can get it small medium or large.. then why didnt anyone ever ask me what size? At that point I told them to take the oreo waffle cone and drop it in a cup for 2.49 and I would smash it up myself. After 50mins of sitting there that's exactly what I got and I will NEVER make the mistake of giving them another chance. Also while we was waiting we watched and counted as 4 different people had to get out their cars to complain or get something fix and 6 different cars pull in and decide to just leave.....

I typically don’t get upset or even ask to speak to a manage, because I know must fast food companies will just fix your issue if you’re patient and I try to be kind to everyone but this made me aggravated. First the girl that took my order literally took 10 mins, with me repeating myself multiple times with what my car of 4 wanted, she said she got it after that amount of time and we waited on our food. It took a minute to get our food, but when they brought it out I was missing 3 things. When our food came the first time I had two large shakes that weren’t marked so I asked the hopper which was which and she said “I don’t know I didn’t make them” keep that in mind for someone that may have an allergy to certain ingredients. When I said what we were missing they brought one of the two items that were missing so I again informed them that I was missing another item. The manager came to speak with me and asked if I had what was on the receipt and I said yea but when we ordered she took my order for things that weren’t on there, was going to make me pay again for something I already had mentioned multiple times I wanted when ordering the first time. At that point I didn’t even want the food anymore so I didn’t do it.I work have worked in Customer service and sales for many years now and the management and staff need way more training and the amount of incompetence to the job was astounding. The crew has attitudes, weren’t very professional, and apparently they even after taking an order for 10 mins with multiple conversation exchange about what was wanted they couldn’t even do that. Read moreIf you want anything with chili and/or cheese, don’t even bother. This sonic used to be great but recently they have begun to skimp on these ingredients. An employee admitted the owner or manager has instructed them to do this when I questioned if this was correct because it felt like I was being cheated for what I was paying for, especially when the prices have already gone up. Even if you ask for extra they will only give you a pinch of cheese. You can count the individual shreds of cheese and that’s just asinine. The attached photo is having asked for extra cheese. Shame on the cheapskates that run this store.
Update 11/20/23: now the new owner has stopped carrying sauce cups. Do you guys understand how ridiculous that is? Cups of barbecue sauce or buffalo sauce were costing them too much money so they don’t serve them here anymore. I would never come here if there was any other sonic option within a reasonable distance. I feel bad for the employees here, they are all great but I hope sonic corporate steps in and saves this owner from himself because this place will close within a year at this rate.
Update: 9/6/24 Still shady. Charged me more in person than the app said (only ordered at the menu board because I couldn’t pay in cash in the app) and tried to pass off 3 French toast sticks per order when the menu board says 4. Also was missing a few things from the order but the carhop was happy to fix that for me. That seems more a mistake from the kitchen...
