Brenda's Burgers — Restaurant in Scottville

Holy smokes. I had the "Dante" - one of the best burgers I've ever had. It was made fresh and extremely fast. The meat was juicy and tasty. It actually medium how I asked. My son's burger was excellent as well. All the options look amazing. We had the 1/2 pound option and each had a full order of fries. We had been fasting for 24 hours (Lent) so we were ready.

This is a local burger join, period. If you like handmade burgers from fresh ingredients with tastes that will blow your minds, go here. The buns are fresh and just the right texture - soft enough to squeeze and fit the whole burger in your mouth but not so much that all the liquid soaks through.

The fries are good but the burger is the main show. If I went again, I'd do the 1/2 pound burger with the half order of fries. If you are a hungry dude, though, get the full order of fries for each person.

Since moving to MI a year ago I've seen too many menu's claiming to have the "voted best burger in Michigan". Lies. I've tried dozens across the Upper and Lower peninsula and they all fall short of whatever "Award" they got. Unless the award was: Most Mediocre burger in Michigan. I obviously haven't tried them all so I can't say with 100% certainty that Brenda's is the best in Michigan but I can say that of the dozens of burgers I've tried nothing compares. The burgers are fresh and cooked on the spot. The condiments aren't over powering. Even the tomato tastes freshly sliced. There are a ton of options for specialty burgers. It's pretty hard to complain about Brenda's Burgers. You walk in the door, the decor is done up in an interesting and fun Depression-era theme, the staff is friendly, you order and pay, then you stand around and talk with folks about local news and goings-on. After a relatively short wait, your burger arrives—carefully prepared, delicious, and served on a bun from the fantastic bakers at West Shore Market.

Typically, I reserve five-star reviews for the absolute best of the best food and experiences. When I compare Brenda's to someplace like Au Cheval in Chicago, I see some small room for improvement. But to have this kind of quality available in Scottville? I can't help but give the...
