My wife and I met 48 years ago while working as waiters on te boardwalk in Atlantic City. We know the trials and trivulations of being a server, and the ins and outs of kitchen drama. As a result, we usually tip 20% or better, but this visit was a 15%er. We've been here before and had good food and good service, but not this time. I orderd a Western omlette and my wife ordered Texas French toast. They had cinnamon French toast, but she doesn't care for cinnamon and thin French toast is usually soggy as opposed to the thicker, drier Texas variety. My omlette was fine, but instead of Texas French toast she brought out three slices of cinnamon. She said they were out of the thick bread and told us they didn't charge us for the extra slice. I'm sure it was the cook who made the choice to substitue, but she never gave us a choice and did not offer any apologies, just assuming the extra slice would make us happy. It might have if the toast wasn't cinnamon and extremely soggy. We never send things back, so she ate 1/2 of one slice , just to have something in her stomach for our 3 hour drive. When she came back she asked how things were and i simply said, "She didn't care for it." Without another word, she simply picked up the plate and dropped it loudly in the bus tray, sending a clear message of disgust. Walking over to the hostess, she said, 'She ate one slice." Obviously, fractions were unimportant, as she rounded up. We got our bill, which did not charge us for the French toast. I paid the hostess and left a 15% tip of what the bill would have been if we were charged for it. I'm not writing this keep others from visiting. I'm writng in the hope that someone from the restaurant reads this and makes sure this sort of thing is a one...
ย ย ย Read moreOk, this place wasn't as bad as this 2 star rating if that is all ypu look at. HOWEVER, this experience kind of deserved this rating. I ordered the French onion soup gratinee as an appetizer, it was really good (if you like that sort of thing).
The patty melt was my main course....here's where we hit a snag. Now if you have read my reviews before, I find it hard to give bad ratings based on an honest mistake, but I have this rule about sending my food back, as I am afraid of retaliation sometimes, especially once covid hit and money got tight. I say that to say that I asked for my melt to be medium well. Well, this was far from even medium. This was about as rare as I have seen ground beef in a burger before.
This may have been an honest mistake, and the chef may have read it as medium rare, but I just couldn't do it.
The owner or manager came out and apologized profusely, asked if they could get me anything else. I thanked them and moved along.
No knocks to the service here, it was great. The atmosphere, the people, it was all good. Just wish the burger came out right.
I would still say try it out, your experience will most likely be...

They tasted as if they were cut with a cookie cutter from chopped and formed steak. Disappointed in the flavor and texture. The only plus for these steak tips is that they came out exactly as I asked......medium. The steak fries where good but could have been cooked a bit longer. Some sort of greens ....( technically they were yellowish almost turning brown) and 1 round slice of carrot that looked like it has been sitting on a counter for 2 days before being put on my plate and served to me. Overall I won't be back. The Bartender was nice and attentive but the food will be the reason I go elsewhere from now on. Not enough KENO monitors for those of us that like to do a bit of gambling. If you win at KENO they won't cash it because they don't have a KENO cash register like most bars do. They tell you that you have to walk next door to the gas station to cash your KENO tickets. A complaint has been sent to the NH lottery...
