A little slot of a shop on the SE corner of an industrial park. For the most part, insane portion sizes. I've never seen a Rice Crispy Treat this big. Some of the cookies look like you can share 3-4 ways, the Chocolate Chunk is waay thick!! I came for biscuits. These are made for being soaked w/ gravy. The edges are nice, crisp, and offer a delicate light, fluffy, bready interior. My wife had the monkey bread muffin, and enjoyed in immensely it a bit sticky. Like many places, the coffee is a tad dry, not overpowering their food. But these folks' baked goods seem to have reckless abandon. My Americano was solid, if a bit calm in the roast. She had the intriguing Butter Bourbon Latte, quite tasty. A very short list of breakfast offerings, but they were casual when I ordered off menu (2 eggs and a biscuit). Second time, 3 eggs and a biscuit and a Vegwich... One of the best snadwich biscuits I've EVER had, which is saying a lot. My own White Lily Flour jobbers pale for this application, but the folded flaky layers they offer are for completely different applications... And these crispy exteriors makes me want to take a few home. Sparse, clean, 6 counter height 2-tops, a nice 4 top by the front window. Five more 2 tops under shade out front. Parking is tight spaces, but plenty of it given the nature of this beast, food on the go.
Went back and tried the biscuits and gravy. Two biscuits, an amazing rendition of pork pepper sausage gravy, topped with an egg. Very...
Read moreI got to visit here today with a group of friends and it was a lot of fun. Went ahead and got the biscuits and gravy plate along with a warm London fog. You get a lot of food for the price, but just a heads up if you add the fried chicken to the gravy plate it’s gonna go from $13 to $18, so keep an eye on that register when they punch it in for you. There are also were no prices (that I could spot) listed for any of the baked goods in the counter. The lack of clarity here is why I’m gonna go ahead and do a 4/5 stars because that’s… important lol.
They have paper menus up for grabs at the entry so you can browse while you wait in line, which was lovely. I have a rollator (walker with wheels, brakes, and a seat) and the staff was very sweet and helped me carry my food and drink to the outside table where my friends and I were eating.
They did allow us to rearrange four of the six tables and many chairs to accommodate our group which was very kind as well!
In terms of accessibility, there were two disabled parking spots nearby, both of which had an unloading zone on the righthand side. All the parking spaces are compact size. The interior of the shop is NOT wheelchair accessible in my opinion- it’s just too narrow, especially the standing area in the direct entry. Definitely not for a motorized wheelchair. Crutches and canes would be...
Read moreHave to agree with the other reviewer that said that this is good if you happen to be in the area, but not worth traveling for.
Smashwich is overhyped. The bread is genuinely very good, hash brown was nice and crispy, but the patty was reminiscent of the ones you’d find at the grocery store freezer. Also not sure if it’s usually cooked differently but it had no crisp - and hardly even any browning - to warrant the “smash” in the name. Overall it was good, not great, nothing unique to make me want it again. “I could have just made that at home”.
From the pastry case: s’mores rice krispy was straight up stale. Had a bite and tossed it. Very disappointing. shokupan donut also seemed stale! The cream was initially pleasingly not too sweet, but on a second bite just overall lacked flavor. Wife and I agreed that adding salt made this way way better. Amman toast - way too sweet. Bread also seemed stale under the caramelized layer. Seeing a trend? Oreo cookie: pretty good! Nice chewy texture. Somehow the Oreo flavor is totally missing, but the core cookie itself is solid enough where that didn’t really bother me.
Great service though, nice neighborhood vibes. I think if you avoid the stale pastries and get the actual good stuff, this is...
