On the road to Stonington (Route 175), we were looking for a place to eat lunch, and someone in Blue Hill recommended The Maine Lobster Lady in Sargentville. We took the suggestion, and are we ever glad! From the charming decor and Maine memorabilia to the warm and friendly welcome from Ruby, the personable daughter of the owner and maestro of the kitchen, to the open and pleasant indoor and outdoor dining areas, and last but most important, the superbly prepared, presented, and delicious food, everything about The Maine Lobster Lady was top shelf. I ordered the haddock sandwich, and what arrived was a huge slab of fish that exceeded the perimeter of the roll. It was the best haddock sandwich I've ever eaten anywhere, and certainly in Maine, as was the roll (What is it about Maine and a good Kaiser or Italian hoagie roll? Are they banned north of Kittery?). Normally, I spice up a haddock sandwich with ketchup, but the herb and garlic aioli sauce was so tasty there was no need. It was more than filling, but though my appetite was sated, I was sorry when I swallowed the last morsel. My beverage was The Maine Lobster Lady's special blueberry lemonade--a first for me--and the ideal liquid refreshment on a hot summer day rendered pleasant by marine breezes that cooled the outdoor dining paddock (thoughtfully designed to accommodate canine companions), where we picnicked under the shade of an umbrella, surrounded by colorful flowers and ripening tomato plants. My son, Ted, was equally pleased with his chicken salad sandwich, and his girlfriend, Zoe, devoured her lobster roll with gusto, raving about the abundant portion of the iconic Down East crustacean. At The Maine Lobster Lady, our experience was uniformly delightful, and we rejoiced at the serendipity that had delivered such edacious ecstasy. In every respect, it's evident that the three generations of Maine women who operate this family-owned roadside restaurant go about their mission and vocation of serving customers and pleasing palates with care, passion, and devotion. As the author of a book about a seeming epidemic of incompetence in the United States, I was thrilled to visit an establishment that exemplifies excellence. If your travels take you to the Blue Hill peninsula, mark The Maine Lobster Lady on your roadmap. It deserves to be celebrated and patronized to the same degree as such popular Maine culinary landmarks as Red's Eats in Wiscasset, Moody's Diner in Waldoboro, and Jordan's Pancake House in Bar Harbor. Highest recommendation. If I could award six stars, I would! Art Carey Lamoine, Maine Wynnewood, Pennsylvania (suburb of...

They serve what I consider to be the best lobster rolls you can get, period. No gimmicks, no filler, just a perfectly executed classic. They use exclusively claw meat, which in my opinion is the best part of the lobster — tender, flavorful, and never rubbery. The mayo is used sparingly and with purpose — light, clean, balanced — with just a touch of citrus and salt to tie it all together. It’s served on a perfectly toasted, buttered roll that holds everything in place without getting soggy or greasy.
That’s the whole experience — a lobster roll done exactly the way it should be, at a price that feels more than fair for the quality you’re getting.
You don’t need to stop at a random roadside shack with a hand-painted sign and hope for the best. You don’t need to overthink it. Just come here. If you’re in the area and you’re even considering getting a lobster roll, this is the place....

She told me to stop by at the Sedgwick location and I’m sure glad I did! On the ferry ride back to Stonington I got talking to some nice people from Texas and we got talking about Maine seafood.. I told them they really had to try a Little Maine shrimp deep-fried.. so that’s all I had on my mind on the ride back And that’s exactly what I ordered! Perfect Fried golden brown Maine shrimp with the cocktail sauce of course. The hand cut fries were delicious and to top it off I’ve had the best blueberry coleslaw yes blueberry I’ve ever tasted! So if you’re in the neighborhood you should definitely stop by you won’t be disappointed! They also have outdoor seating I was on the run so I couldn’t stay but next time!, I got two words for you:…...
