We used to go to this catfish place years ago but hadn’t been in a while so we decided to go back a few months ago. The fish used to be whole filets of delicious white catfish but what I got that night was not filets but chunks of fish that has the brown slimy skin and tasted horrible. I honestly thought they must have run out of filets and went to Walmart and loaded up on the frozen chunk catfish that Walmart sells that I wouldn’t even feed my dog. I really thought they were just having a bad/busy night. So, fast forward to today when I was hungry for catfish and I told my husband let’s give it another try. Big mistake! Ordered fish and shrimp and got two of what looked like half filets and three brown chunks, along with the shrimp. Shrimp was good and coleslaw was delicious but the fish was disgusting. So, $80 later (husband, grandson, and myself) we have made our last trip ever to Molly's Catfish Corner. There’s lots of restaurants in the area that have much better catfish...
Read moreThey're not anything like they were a year ago when we went. We were so looking forward to eating there and boy were we disappointed. Won't be going back unfortunately. They have changed there breading recipe and now instead of fillets you get fillets pieces. With no real taste. Hush puppies were very good but very oily. Coleslaw was fantastic. Baked potatoes hot. Onion rings no flavor but burnt grease and burnt flour taste that you could even taste the onion. Tea was very good love the little individual pitcher cups they serve it in...cute idea. Read moreI've eaten a lot of fried catfish all over Texas and the Deep South, and Molly's ranks up there with the best of them. The catfish pieces were cut right, nice and thick, and were seasoned and fried to perfection. The portion size was huge. My wife got the fried oyster and shrimp combo and I gotta tell ya, the oysters were unbelievably good (the shrimp was good too). However, the unexpected star of the evening was the fried crawfish appetizer basket - man, that was good.
Sauces are made in-house and are fantastic.
Molly's is an old-style family run place, so not a lot of frills but they put all their love into the food....
