I don’t often order delivery, but I haven’t been feeling well and decided to place a DoorDash order from Pit Stop Cafe, which we have used in the past without issue for simple items like burgers and chicken tenders. Unfortunately, today’s experience was far from our usual standard.
Our order included chicken tenders with mashed potatoes for me, a burger for my daughter, and a queso and chips to share. Delivery through DoorDash was prompt and without issue. However, upon opening my container, I was immediately disappointed.
The chicken tenders were noticeably inconsistent in size. While the dish is usually large enough for me to stretch into two meals, two of the four tenders were significantly smaller—primarily breading with little to no meat. More concerning was the taste. The breading had an unusual mix of textures and flavors, almost as if two different coatings had been used (standard breading and cornmeal), and the tenders had a distinct sour, off-putting flavor reminiscent of spoiled eggs.
The mashed potatoes were also unappetizing. They had turned grey, which is typically an indicator that they had been sitting out for an extended period. The texture and appearance suggested they had been held warm for far too long.
I called the restaurant in hopes of resolving the issue. I spoke with Kayla, who identified herself as the manager. From the start of the call, it was clear she was reluctant to engage. As I calmly and politely explained my concerns, she responded defensively, insisting that the discoloration in the potatoes was due to seasoning and that the chicken tenders were “normal.” When I requested a refund, I was told the only way to receive one would be to physically return the food within the hour. We live across the lake, so it’s a 20 min trek, also why we had it delivered. There was an overall tone as if what i was saying, wasnt true.
Given that I was unwell and already trying to prepare something else to eat, returning the food in person was not a reasonable option. After ending the call, I decided to try the queso and chips, only to discover that the container was filled with soggy chips already mixed in—making it equally inedible.
While I understand that mistakes happen, the handling of this situation—both in terms of food quality and customer service—was disappointing. I hope this feedback is taken seriously so that future experiences for other customers can be improved. See for...
Read moreMy friend and me had breakfast here and were a bit disappointed. Other than two other tables of two parties each, the place was empty. The restaurant was really warm, not unbearable but it was still early, 8:30 am. Our drink order arrived promptly. We both had bacon, egg, lettuce and tomato sandwiches and hashbrowns. The waitress specifically asked if we wanted mayo and we both said yes. Our sandwiches and hashbrowns arrived pretty quick. When the waitress delivered it she asked if we wanted catsup. We said yes. The bread on the sandwiches wasn’t toasted well and was soft and neither had mayo. I checked both sides. We waited for the waitress to bring the catsup to also tell her there was no mayo but she never came back. I peaked my head around the kitchen to ask for catsup and mayo. She brought packets of both because she couldn’t find the catsup bottles. She said she saw the cook put mayo on the sandwiches. I pulled the bread off the top and showed her. She insisted she saw him put it on there. So, I literally took the sandwich apart to show her. We had two packets of mayo and five packets of catsup to share. I finally tried the hashbrowns after getting catsup and they were undercooked, still a little crunchy from raw potatoes. Overall, the food had good flavor but the quality of the food, the warm restaurant, and the service made for a...
Read moreIt was so bad I actually asked if the owner, Kayla, who is also the cook, still owned the place. She does and she was there today so I assume she was the cook today as well. Service was the best part and even THAT was no good. Very inattentive and dressed like she worked at Hooters. Food was very disappointing because it was cold, maybe because it took half an hour to get to the table, on a day when there were no other patrions eating. Server even brought out BURNT TOAST.
To Kayla, since there is no way to reply to your response I will just add to this one. No, I did not ask FOR you, I asked ABOUT you. And no, I did not ask for you, I didn't want you to fix something that should be good every time, as it use to be. Not to mention we did not want to wait another 30 minutes for food that might be cold if it was prepared the same way As if it wasn't bad enough, BOTH meals were cold. The other meal was not a burger it was hamburger steak, since there wasn't an option. Funny you didnt say WHY it was cold, WHY IT TOOK SO LONG to get order or why your server was dressed the way she was. You just immediately got defensive and blamed me your terrible food and service. And BURNT TOAST? SERIOUSLY? But hey at least only one side was burnt. 🤔🙄...
