This place is our go to place for the past 3 plus years. They have new owners(at least a 1 yr + and family owned). The turnaround w employees is not so good. In the beginning I would have given them 4 5 stars, but lately the food is not too exceptional and either over cooked or not hot when served. When you hear the Servers are not happy and you can literally see they are short staffed the majority of the time- does this mean it is time to move on? We do ask ourselves these questions and have slowed our visits from 3-4x a week to maybe 2. They have a great breakfast menu and the food is good. Their Cold Plate is another good meal. The menu has not changed at all. The prices are good, if you get your food the way you ordered it! If you advertise a daily lunch and or dinner special, please note"if it is NOT the same price as shown in the menu" it is not a Special, unless a couple dollars off or food not shown on the menu. If yous have family prepping food, treat them just as you would the cooks and Servers. Do not let the guys get too cocky and decide since they are family, they can do what they want. If you are going to bake potatoes, please do not bake the supper potatoes at breakfast time and serve these to your customer. It is an old potatoe .and turns brown inside around the peeling. When the customer sends it back- please do not once again send a morning potato you serve at lunch time. If a customer orders medium for their meat- guess what?- this does not mean well done! McClains has had some great deserts such as; bread pudding and buttermilk pie- but never hardly ever anymore. I am not a happy camper when I receive the potato wheel (sour cream, cheese and bacon bits) that was just at another table. The other people have used their hands at times to get the cheese or bacon buts. Please find a more sanitary another way to serve this fresh to each table. I overheard a Server before they moved on" state :the little salad crackers are limited to 2 packages per person, and they are locked up after 5pm. If you cannot trust your emplayees- what does that tell you? They do make a great ice tea, thousand island dressing and fish! The owners are great people and have great kids, but business goes further by hiring good Managers, Leads and Servers! Hopefully things will...
Read moreBeen at the lake since 1994 mrs mcclain was awesome she ran a very tight ship and everything was kept on the up and up.. But since she sold to the new owner, this place has gone way down hill service is still great as well as prices but over my last 8 visits the fried mushrooms came to table burnt the 4 steaks was tough and like chewing rubber 4 times the rolls was cold and did not melt butter. The inside of this place is getting even worse very disgusting the booths seats are still ripped in shreds showing there stuffing though them the ceiling tiles has still not been fixed for over 7 or 8 years that i know of there are some still missing and what is still there is heavily SOILED and stained and the other ones are barely holding in place up there. We try to set where it wont be so dangerous over our heads if and it all comes raining down.. So we eat real fast when we go there to our favs and we don't take NO ONE with us for out of shame. We have been told over the years they are going to remodel but yet to see that happen.. Wounding where the money goes but it was a local Mexican food place a round the corner that bought this place. We have decided that we will not Eat here again unless a change of improvement.. I never dreamed of s day that i would be typing this kind of review under the name of...
Read moreThis was our third visit to McClain's in Seven Points Texas. I didn't want to give up on the restaurant, but I just can't do it again. I wanted a Reuben, which is on their menu, but they had no clue how to make one. It came out on rye bread, not grilled, looked like they had put it in the microwave to melt the cheese. I had the Chicken fried steak. They put gravy on the steak only. The mashed potatoes were dry. I asked for gravy on everything. My sons cheeseburger was the only decent thing on the table. Everytime we've eaten there something has been wrong with our food. The last time they burned our chicken livers beyond recognition, and cooked all of the steaks well done. I don't think the cook has a clue how to cook on a time limit, but this time we were the only people in the restaurant. So, good luck to them, and I hope they can get better help. If not they are going under fast. I gave 2 stars because they made a decent burger, but his popcorn chicken was hard as a rock. We could've paved the driveway with it. Also our appetizers came out the same time as the food. Not a good experience. Below I'm posting what Reuben sandwiches look like so they know...they are GRILLED not served...
