Ah, Clock Tower Coffee and Bakery. Where to begin? First, let's talk about the coffee. I've always been a firm believer that coffee should, at the very least, resemble coffee. Clock Tower's brew, however, seems to defy conventional categorization. If you're someone who appreciates the subtle nuances of dishwater, with just a hint of "oops, did someone forget to clean the pot?", then you, my friend, are in for a treat. For the rest of us, who prefer our morning pick-me-up to actually pick us up, you might find yourself yearning for the robust, complex, and dare I say, caffeinated experience offered by, say, your local Dunkin' Donuts. And at a fraction of the price! It's almost as if Clock Tower believes the higher cost somehow magically imbues their coffee with an invisible, premium quality that only the most discerning palates (or perhaps, the most easily fooled) can detect. Now, onto the donuts. Oh, the donuts! Clock Tower's donuts are a true testament to the adage, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it... just make it three times more expensive and add a shiny glaze." Because, let's be honest, if you blindfolded me and handed me a Clock Tower donut, I'd swear I was enjoying a perfectly respectable, budget-friendly Dunkin' masterpiece. The flavor, the texture – it's all remarkably familiar. But then, you open your eyes, and behold! The magnificent, almost blindingly reflective glaze, demanding an extra 200% of your hard-earned cash. It's truly a marvel of modern capitalism: take an existing, perfectly good product, slap on some shimmer, and quadruple the profit margin. Bravo, Clock Tower, bravo. You've truly mastered the art of charging more for less, all while maintaining a façade of artisanal superiority. In conclusion, if you're in the mood for an overpriced adventure in beverage and baked goods that will make you truly appreciate the humble brilliance of Dunkin' Donuts, then Clock Tower Coffee and Bakery is your destination. Just be sure to bring your sarcasm, and perhaps a secret thermos of your own, superior brew. You'll...
Read moreI've tried this place twice - first time I ordered a cappuccino and a sausage, egg & cheese breakfast sandwich on an english muffin (how it comes). The sandwich was just plain bad, it was bland and greasy. The cappuccino was decent - nothing to write home about but not bad, maybe overpriced for what you get. Second time I again ordered a cappuccino and a sausage, egg & cheese breakfast sandwich on sourdough hoping that the bread would make a difference. It was worse. The sourdough had zero flavor, I didn't realize that was possible, the sandwich had one singular prefab egg and was as thin as a piece of paper, the cheese was plasticy, and the sausage was so bland with a rock hard edge. The egg, sausage and cheese were so small that I was left with huge pieces of sourdough leftover. I probably could've overlooked most of that if it actually had a decent flavor but it was just so bland and lackluster. For the price ($6) - it is NOT worth it.
The staff is fine... nothing to note on the. I was there when a mom was ordering for her, her toddler, and her infant. She asked the staff if they had any high chairs for her baby and they said no. She had to hold her baby the entire time she ate/drank. Not sure why they aren't accommodating children or parents, but hopefully this changes with time and they order some high chairs. The whole atmosphere is confusing because it looks like a convenience store inside.
Overall: the location is EXCELLENT and they have real potential to thrive in this area, but please consider quality over quantity!!! People want decent food and drinks, not subpar food and...
Read moreEdit: Went again recently and they've really made it a lot cozier. The convenience store part was toned down and swapped with more nice seating including a couch area near a fireplace. It's very nice. My only complaints would be that the fire wasn't on and the atmosphere would be even nicer and a little less awkward if they had some coffee house music playing! Also the staff has improved considerably. My last couple visits put me off because the fromt staff used to treat you coldly. The young woman at the front this afternoon 2/21/25 greeted me really warmly and was super friendly. Appreciated that.
---- Old review: The coffee was good, but the baked items and breakfast sandwiches are DELICIOUS. 100% worth coming here just for the bakery. Big, huge pastries, buttery croissants, donuts... everything looks incredible and tastes amazing. I had a turkey bacon croissant breakfast sandwich and it was so yummy. I think if they could up the coziness/atmosphere factor inside a little more it would be 10/10. Maybe the convenience store looking area could be used as a cozy study or work space instead? It feels a little out...
