BIGGBY COFFEE — Restaurant in Shaker Heights

Unfortunately the Bigsby's location at Shaker Square was closed during what would normally be regular business hours. Apparently due to staffing issues they're only open until 1:00 in the afternoon. A nearby Bigsby's location at Fairmont Circle adjacent to the John Carroll campus seems to be busy all the time. I believe Bigsby's made a terrible error in judgment and moving into the Shaker Square space that was formerly occupied by Dewey's. Shaker Square / Larchmere is a unique funky little neighborhood and the previous coffee shop there was a perfect fit, comfortable, relaxing and uniquely decorated. Bigsby's on the other hand is not only a very sterile unwelcoming environment by comparison, but when Dewey's left they took the ice cream and popcorn with them as well. I can't imagine the Bigsby's is viable in Shaker Square and I would certainly like to see a new coffee shop that is more suited to the neighborhood take...

Great coffee, tasty food & lovely atmosphere!!! But, make sure to check your order, before you leave. Usually customer service is good. But unfortunately, not today. My husband and I have frequented Biggby often over the last 2 months. This morning husband ordered a medium decaf Teddy Bear for me. Just the way I like it, the whipped cream dressings and all. Yum! He ordered it in a large cup so it would maintain. Once opening it, the dressings & whip were totally missing. Ok, mistakes happen. He takes it right back, and he had to pay for the coffee, again! The guy made him pay for 2 cups of coffee, on their mistake. Really!?!? Not, a big deal, but very disappointing. We'll be back! The cashier was friendly. Upbeat staff and customers. Clean Cafe. The actual service was terrible. It felt like an assembly line factory and not a coffee shop. The coffee was fresh, however but underwhelming. Once the so called barista did serve the coffee up it, she mumbled the order, and I had to clean the spilled coffee from around the cup. I couldn't say anything because it was a fast food assembly line! And what type of was did I drink, was it roasted? French? Colombian? Sumatra? Arabica? It wasn't actually listed.
