Our first experience at Le Gamin in Sharon. Welcomed by Fran our server who explained their current participation in Restaurant Week and their special very affordable set menus for the event. We dined part off that menus and part off the standard seasonal menu. Starters French Onion Soup and Escargot = both just outstanding! Salmon main was perfectly cooked and seasoned. Sides excellent ! Their salad dressing...we WANT that recipe ! Perfectly balance and so tasty ! The Pork Chop was an experience to remember...THE best we have EVER had and we are not young!! Cuisson ordered of that was medium rare and was perfect! MASSIVE portion of locally farmed organic pork! Taste and seasoning needed NO enhancing! The Potatoes au Gratin ...easily 40-50 super thin slices, buttery cheesy and delicious. Excellent wine list. Desserts a must have adventure to..Ile Flotant was divine..Bread Pudding ..get ready for a unique presentation and savoury taste bud memory maker. Chef Robert Arbor even came by to chat, as we are from Montreal and fluently bilingual (in our Quebecois French that is) we enjoyed a flip back and forth conversation in both languages. What an engaging, professional articulate true gentleman! Shall we go back...yes this morning for breakfast and their signature Crepes and Croissants and .... Highly recommended for anyone travelling the area, living near by or even take a day trip adventure culminating with breakfast / lunch / dinner as the are open 9AM to 9 PM.. Bravo tom the team at Le Gamin and especially Chef Robert ! Merci de Montreal...
Read moreI remember being taken to Europe by my parents as a kid and being fascinated by their red Michelin Guide. It was so fun to read about restaurants where we were going and had been.
Some restaurants were described as "worth a detour" (exceptionally high praise for Michelin). That's the way I feel about Le Gamin. Robert and his team are simply doing an outstanding job on EVERYTHING: ambiance, service, and of course the food.
Last night we had cod with potatoes au gratin and a salad, and a bowl of New England clam chowder. The cod was divide -- a big think hunk perfectly poached that preserved its subtle flavor and melted in your mouth. The potatoes were perfect with just enough cheese to give flavor but not get gloppy. The clam chowder (a daring menu choice) was the best we've had in -- wait for it -- New England, and we've lived here for 40 years. Dessert was a wonderful brownie (French style, not American) and vanilla ice cream from the shop next...
Read moreWhat an absolute mistake coming here for my Birthday dinner... Service was disappointing and plain rude. I had to go to the kitchen to track down our waitress to tell her that our steak was well done, after I ordered it hot pink on the inside. I tried and tried to get her attention for a while, but she never looked over. Our steak came out after another long wait, and it was 60%meat and 40%fat. We also ordered the Mussels, which she highly recommended, and she mentioned all the wonderful french bread that we'd get to dip into the delicious broth, but we has to ask her 4 times for the the bread. By the time she finally brought the bread, we were completely finished eating dinner.. So we didn't need it any more. What an awful Birthday dining experience. We'll...
