Iâve lived all over this country, north, south, east, and west, and I can honestly say Iâve never come across a better restaurant than Coyote Lanes and Road Runner CafĂ© in Shelby, Montana. In a small town like Shelby, where you often run into places with copycat menus and rushed, impersonal service and âanything elseâ 10x before you can even finish your sentence.. this place is an absolute gem. While other spots seem to follow the same tired script, this place stands on its own, completely original, authentic, and unlike anything else around here.
The food? Unbelievable. Every single dish is made fresh with real ingredients and true attention to detail. You can taste the difference from the first bite. Itâs the kind of flavor that hits you hard in the best way. Every meal is mouthwatering, packed with flavor, and always leaves us with leftovers because the portions are generous and satisfying without ever sacrificing quality.
Weâve tried multiple dishes, everything from their daily specials to the comfort food classics, and each one somehow manages to outdo the last. And speaking of specials, they have something new every single day. Itâs always exciting to walk in and see what creative, delicious meal Robyn has come up with. The variety is unreal and the consistency is even better. This is the kind of food you usually only find in the deep South, soulful, homemade, and cooked with care. But itâs right here in Montana, and honestly, itâs unmatched. You just donât find food like this anywhere else. And the service? Truly next level. These are the kind of people who take care of their community. They literally fed us through postpartum with a newborn baby when we barely had the energy to cook for ourselves. Theyâve stayed open late for us without hesitation, just to make sure we got a hot, delicious meal after a long day. Itâs not just us either, they take care of everyone who walks through their doors with the same kindness, warmth, and genuine care. Their service is absolutely unmatched. What truly sets this place apart, though, is the people. The owners and staff are some of the kindest, most down to earth folks weâve ever met. In a town like this.. the team at Coyote Lanes and Road Runner CafĂ© is a breath of fresh air. They make you feel like family the moment you walk in, genuinely warm, friendly, and always ready to chat or offer a recommendation.
Weâre moving soon, and without a doubt, one of the hardest things to leave behind will be this place and the wonderful people who run it. This isnât just a restaurant, itâs a rare find, a place that feeds your stomach and your soul. If you havenât been, youâre missing out on one of the best food experiences youâll ever have. The photos speak for themselves.
Thank you Robyn, Adam, and Ryan from the bottoms...
Read moreAlright, so we rolled into Shelby, Montana, and everyone was like, âYo, you gotta hit up Coyote Lanes and Roadrunner Cafe for the best eats in town.â No shit, they were straight-up right. This spotâs got that chill, laid-back energy with a side of legit food that had us hyped.
Walking in, itâs got this dope, welcoming feelâkinda like a dive bar and a family joint had a baby. The staffâs (Adam and Robin) cool as hell, making you feel like youâre kicking it with friends. But letâs get to the main event: the grub.
My wife went for the spicy fried chicken salad, and damn, it was fire. Crispy chicken with just enough heat to wake up your taste buds, tossed with fresh greens that were straight-up vibing. No sad, wilted lettuce hereâjust pure crunch and flavor. She finished with the key lime pie, and Iâm pretty sure she saw stars. Itâs tangy, smooth, and the crust is on pointâlike, dessert goals achieved.
Me? I got the steak, and bro, it was dialed in. Cooked exactly how I wanted, juicy as hell, with flavor that slaps. Came with onion rings that were crispy AF, none of that greasy mess you dodge at lesser spots. The side salad was fresh, light, and didnât feel like an afterthoughtâtotal win.
Coyote Lanes and Roadrunner Cafe is the real deal. Itâs not just a bowling alley with food; itâs a spot youâll wanna hit again. If youâre cruising through Shelby, donât sleep on this place. Grab a bite, maybe bowl a frame, and soak in the vibes. Weâre already stoked to come back. Five stars,...
Read moreOk .. so my highest level of praise for a restaurant is reserved for the EXTREMELY rare occasion where I am served something so delightful, that I literally NEVER order anything else off the menu! And the roadrunner did it! .. Now, the menu calls this thing a "Philly Cheesesteak" .. but honestly, that's kinda like calling a Ferrari "a car" .. this thing was made with ACTUAL RIB EYE .. and the way it was crisped yet still juicy in ways only rib eye steak can be was truly breathtaking! .. It was more like if a cheese steak, a smash burger, and a ribeye had a sandwich baby .. and then someone had the brilliant idea to slather it in garlic aioli and provolone! đ€Żđ€€ They did have a picture of their burger on the menu, and it looked absurd too, but this "cheese steak" is now living rent free in my brain for life! I did admittedly add bacon to it, but I do that to all my Phillies #doit .. But real talk, I can all but guarantee I will never eat anywhere else in this town again .. and no insult to the other fine establishments there, but I can't ever imagine being in a 30 mile radius of Shelby, MT, and not going out of my way to get more of this Ribeye cheese steak in my life! đ PS .. the beer battered fries were some of the best I've ever had...
