Crouse's Cafe — Restaurant in Shelocta

I have to rant about the manager at Crouse’s Cafe in Shelocta. First let me say the waitresses were excellent - nothing was their fault. Kevin and I both got soup but asked for a taste to make sure it wasn’t too spicy. It was good and we both ordered the soup we had tasted. We were charged an extra dollar for the two soup spoons worth of sample. WHAT? Then I asked for the refill of my Pepsi to be in a to go cup because I didn’t want to waste it if I couldn’t finish the whole thing. The manager made the waitress charge me another $2.49 for my refill in the to go cup. TRIPLE WHAT? I was outraged to say the least. I was charged $4.98 for one drink and a refill. This is absolutely nothing but greed and of course we will never visit this...

Had to edit my review. Unfortunately, things have changed. I have always loved their breakfast! We was there this week and it was very disappointing. The ham was terrible. Much lower quality. One bite was enough for me. Potatoes were just ok. Not cooked enough. We have always loved their cinnamon rolls. Got some to bring home with us. They were stale. Very hard and dry. Never had a bad experience there before. I'm going to try again soon and hopefully edit this again. I like consistency at restaurants. But that seems hard to find lately. 😕 I have to add... the service was still good. Restaurant was clean and everyone was friendly....

This place was absolutely AMAZING! It's a cute little Mom and Pop restaurant. The inside was decorated very nicely and looked very clean. Everything tasted so fresh and homemade- the portions were huge. The home fries with the peppers and onions were fantastic, the eggs were cooked to perfection! The pancakes, Belgian waffles and french toast were amazing, especially the banana bread french toast. It has great flavor! The service is on point and very friendly! If anyone is in the Shelocta area, you need to stop here. Definitely recommend...
