La Scogliera — Restaurant in Shelton

When you want a total family experience and fresh, hot off the stove, delicious Italian meal, La Scogliera is the place to be. It has a small dining room with about 14 tables, depending on the settings. There's also a well stocked, separated bar area with seating at the counter and a few more small tables for dining. The food is simply delicious no matter what you order, either off the normal menu, or from their daily specials. They clearly state on their menu that it takes time for their foods to be prepared, so after ordering, be patient until that foods comes out to you hot and delicious. It'll be worth the wait.

The wait staff is always on alert and very attentive to your needs. This tucked away restaurant on River Road in Shelton, CT has now become a favorite spot for me, even though it's two towns away from my home. I've been inviting friends to join me there for dinner and they all have the same positive opinion of this place. If you don't want to dine in, they also have take out service which is how I first ordered from this place during the pandemic. The food was still nice and hot when I got home.

I highly recommend La Scogliera to anyone who's looking for a great dining experience, where they can have a quiet conversation during dinner, without the frantic hustle and bustle of a chain...

I came to early dinner on a Sunday heard so much about it and went. I walked in reservation cards all over the table. I got a table and was sitting for hour and half and saw no one come in for all these fake reservations. I ordered my food which was recommended and I could not believe how gross the steak was it was so burnt it tasted like charcoal and no flavor. The stuffed shrimp still had the shell on most place at all take that off. The chicken parm was so thin that it was thinner then a napkin almost like it was ran over and had no flavor what’s so ever. I am just wondering if they put the chicken through the pasta maker, I have never seen chicken so thin in my life . The calamari was terrible and small portion. The waitress asked us veggies or pasta and we asked for salad not thinking be a big up charge because she never said there would be one at all. Come to find out it was seven dollars for side salad that is a joke I can see $5 max. What ever you do save your money and go...

Worst dinner experience I ever had! Wish I could give 0 stars. Had reservations for 6:30 to celebrate a birthday. At 8:20, we asked how much longer on our meals. The owner came out and told us that waiting 2 hours for our food was normal because it was just that good and we need to wait 2 hours on average for "his food". I have never been spoken to like that...simply embarrassing. My $26 meal consisted of 5 shrimp with canned mushrooms and a side of bland pasta. The owner's attitude was disgusting and I'm embarrassed for his employees. Our waiter and host apologized for the owner and said they felt embarrassed as well. I've been a waitress for 20 years now and counting, and this is this 1st review I ever left online.
