One of those places you shouldn't judge by the cover. We were driving back home to Philly from St. Peter's MO, and during the 17 hr ride, I had to search for our next stop for food. We avoid fast food like the plague, so that limits things even more. I had to check this place out due to the reviews, not to mention it's only 2 mns off our route home.
The reviews raved about the food specifically. I reviewed the menu options and figured there was something for everyone on there. It's basically a traditional all night diner. Now once we arrived, I found it very difficult to spot, as for one, it wasn't what I expected to be looking for. The diner is PART of the gas station... so we had a hard time seeing the diner. A new to the area person will likely have the same issue. We're looking for a stand alone diner.
This place is truly dated. lol I mean maybe 80s to 90s feel. Nothing wrong with that. It's clean. No sight of bugs or food crumbs everywhere. This is where I say you look beyond this part. We were immediately greeted by a Latino gentleman, very friendly and pleasant. Then the server, Keenan, came over to grab our order, along with answering menu questions. This girl was so sweet & anxious to attend us. I miss this kind of hospitality in the service industry, particularly food. The food came out and we ate almost every bite. My one friend hand an endless amount of included items in his order of choice... which was a bit unexpected. He ordered the Tortellini platter. I found the pasta great, the garlic bread wasn't the best -maybe not enough garlic, the potato soup was delicious, and finally the salad basic but the choice of dressings also seemed endless. Not a bad thing IMO. I was simply craving some basic grilled cheese and that was great. The beverage cup sizes seemed huge, just perfect for the price. Lastly the dessert, Had some cheesecake which was fantastic, but then tried the chocolate cake... this I would highly suggest not to get as it was so dry and not very tasty. The waitress took that away and recommended the "Mouse Cake". Yes, the mouse cake was phenomenal and DO recommend that. It's so cute too! I say perfect for an impromptu gift of a baked good.
I know my review was lengthy, but I wanted to include as much detail as possible. Thank You server Keenan, you...
Read moreThe establishment I recently visited provided an extraordinary experience combining exceptional service, a welcoming atmosphere, and incredible value for money. Upon entering, I was immediately impressed by the warm and inviting ambiance, which was both cozy and stylishly decorated, setting the perfect tone for a relaxing meal.
The service was exemplary throughout my visit. The staff was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable, ensuring that every aspect of my dining experience was flawless. They were quick to address any requests and provided recommendations that perfectly suited my taste.
Now, let's talk about the food. I ordered the fried chicken dinner, and it was a feast fit for a king! For under $17, I was served half a chicken that was perfectly crispy and juicy, accompanied by a generous portion of rice and flavorful green beans that were cooked to perfection. The mashed potatoes were creamy and smooth, complementing the other dishes beautifully. Additionally, the meal included a fresh and crisp salad along with a hearty cup of soup that warmed my soul. The portion sizes were very generous, ensuring that you not only get value for your money but also leave the restaurant fully satisfied.
Overall, this restaurant offers a delightful blend of high-quality food, exceptional service, and a fantastic atmosphere – all for a very reasonable price. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a satisfying meal without breaking the bank. I will certainly be...
Read moreThis is a home cooked style family restaurant. The owners are Greek and there are some items where you can taste the fusion of good old home cooking with some Greek spice! Love this place my experience is below with some of the menu items I tried....
Got stuck at the loves across the street for truck repairs. Everyone in the shop kept saying this place was good. Walked over and got a to-go plate of lasagna with garlic bread. Got my order and was surprised at how heavy it was. They filled the entire to go plate with food! Not joking. Between the lasagna and banana pie I was stuffed, and partially dying from my own glutinous ways.
Went back today for lunch/dinner. Ordered the ribeye sandwich. You can see below what I mean by fill the plate. Its a ribeye steak cooked the way you want, with sautéed onions on top, side of fries, and soup or salad. I went with the soup which was ham and bean and I think a touch of oregano in it. Love bean and ham soup, and this was right up there with the best I've ever had.
Will be going back tomorrow for lunch before continuing on to my delivery.
And yes I will be stopping here again, this is the kind of stop that a driver can get excited about when they have been on the road for a month and just wants a REAL home cooked meal! 10/10
P.S. staff there are super nice and make the experience just that much...
