I don’t even know where to begin where’s 0 stars!!! I almost reviewed them another time, because of the poor customer service that they provide and the stank attitudes….But I left that alone, because unfortunately, that is what you have to deal with in our black community….So sad! The times before, I’ve had the fish and it was decent but wasn’t anything to write home about. So this last visit I decided to try the baked chicken, it was at closing, and they looked like they had an attitude just by me walking in so late and if I had even dared to ask them to fry me some fish, LOL I don’t even know…… So I opted for the baked chicken. Needless to say I had to cook it in the oven because the chicken was not even cooked thoroughly. I don’t understand how food could be sitting on the steam-table end of night and still be half done. Like how does a chicken wing be half cooked! And the green beans were definitely day one or two old green beans, and the macaroni and cheese they just need to give it up all together. That was the mushiest nastiest macaroni I have ever had in my life. The last time few times I just looked at it…. But this day I thought I’d give benefit of doubt. Shame on me and shame on them for serving that trash!!! Anyone who’s giving them these fake reviews needs to stop it! They must have something in common with the owner because there’s no way that they are getting these good reviews with that horrible food and horrible service. I will happily take my self right down the street to Franco’s going forward. Now I understand why this is what the third or fourth location lol this one won’t last long either! Everyone ain’t meant to have a restaurant…. This is one of them!!! While I’m here:…. Greens: Bland, no flavor Dressing: Throw it in the trash Sweet Potatoes: Disgusting Fish: Good if the fish quality is good Ribs: Decent when they’re cooked thoroughly, sometimes grilled, sometimes oven

The poor quality and inconsistency of the food is why I can’t give them...

I recommend this Southern eatery to, "Everyone" no matter what race or ethnic groups, or age. They have something accommodating for your palate type.

I had my Mommy's Repass held there. I had a party of 20, there was adequate seating, parking, staff, fresh food (cooked to order), sides made from scratch, fresh spring salad, cornbread made from scratch to even include jalapeno cornbread. The three waitresses were phenomenal, they were energetic, attentive, accommodating, busy, and did it all with beautiful smiles on their faces.

They served my party 45 plates, cooked to order I must reiterate in three hours. Plus kept my guests drinks full.

The food is amazing! I live in Georgia, my Mommy got sick and I had to come here to Louisville. She passed away, I had been cleaning her house out and needed something to eat. I'm tired of fried chicken, seafood, and white castles. I have been craving vegetables from scratch and some cornbread. I googled and found Big Hopp's Southern Eatery and some others. I chose Big Hopp's, and had already been there three times before the Repass function.

Please give them a try you won't be disappointed. Furthermore you won't go anywhere else for your soul food needs after trying them.

Great job Saturday 12.14.2024 for Mildred Williams Coleman repass at Big Hopp's Southern Eatery

This restaurant was amazing!!! I was craving soul food/southern food so we decided to come here. I got the fried chicken (dark meat) and let me tell y'all, the seasoning was perfect!! Especially if you like pepper. The meat itself was very juicy, very flavorful. I also got sweet potato casserole and that was out of the park!!! It was perfect, I enjoyed the texture and the flavors. And the macaroni and cheese was also to die for, I think it was baked?? My husband got the cat fish and that was very flavorful. I had to try a bite of everything he got lol. It was seasoned to perfect, and juicy, not dried. He also got the Mac and cheese and greens. The greens was seasoned and had a little spice to them. They made me want to attempt to make greens at home!! The green beans was also great. I know this review is long but I got one more thing to tell y'all about. The banana pudding was FIRE!!! It was thick and creamy. The prices was reasonable. Overall a very great place and I will definitely be coming back. The service was also A+. Ok I'm done, y'all got to go try it, you will not be...

I've eaten here twice both times were take out. The 1st time I order the smothered pork chops and I wasn't impressed. The flavor was good but the pork chops weren't tender at all. But I decided to try my luck and order again. This time I order 2 dinners one was fried chicken with greens and mac and cheese. And the 2nd dinner was fried catfish w/sweet potato casserole and pinto beans. The catfish was perfect, hot and fresh, seasoned well, and nice and crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The fried chicken and pinto beans were also very good. The collard greens and mac and cheese left a lot to be desired very disappointing. They both lacked flavor and the collards are huge they seem to be served as whole leafs and full of stems. They don't have to be chopped into pieces but cutting them some would been nice. The corn bread and sweet potato casserole was just ok. Be aware I think the sweet potato casserole has pecans or some sort of nuts in it. The portions for the to to go sides are small but the prices aren't bad so you get what you pay for. I'd go again for some more of the catfish
