After moving to the area about a year ago I was excited to try this place. Diner hole-the-wall places are my absolute favorite as you can USUALLY get a great meal at a great price. This place was the exact opposite. When we walked in, there was a short line in front of us. It was obvious that the waitstaff was in no hurry to take orders or get food out because every tables food seemed to come out at the exact same time. After a 40 minute wait (and following the sign which instructed customers to not sit at dirty tables) we were next up and excited to see a table leaving. Before we could even blink, and wait for the table to be cleared, a man at the end of the line darted to the table. Nothing was done and he was served. When we finally got to a table we waited another 15 minutes for a very rude waitress to take our orders. What came out was the most pitiful French toast I have ever seen (complete with raw batter on one slice), burnt, crunchy sausage links, and home fries that tasted like someone suggested that last night’s leftover potatoes be used. My boyfriends “not so dinky” breakfast, as it was named, was just the opposite. After another 20 minutes of being done, our plates were cleared and we were given a bill that was more than what we spent. Frustrated and ready to leave we simply paid and left. Don’t waste your time with this place. Try somewhere like Miss Worcester where the foods great and the prices...
Read moreThis was my favorite breakfast spot, and maybe still could be as long as I remember to only sit the room on the right and not the diner car on the left. The service has always been fantastic on the right side, but the waitresses that work in the diner car have given terrible service the few times I’ve eaten on that side.
Today they plopped the silverware in a pile for us to distribute (and not the right quantity), never checked on us, visibly were talking about us with stink faces behind the counter after I’d asked for a glass of water. They never refilled our coffee, never gave us a take-home box after we asked for one, never said a word when they dropped a bill on our table. The food is great, but for two adults and two small children, breakfast was $80 not including tip! It turned out that a plate with 1 egg, toast, hash browns, and corn beef hash was about $16. We are very disappointed after this visit today and probably...
Read moreLooking for a diner for Sunday brunch and Dinky's Blue Belle popped up in my Google maps search at 93%. Since we named my wife's car Blue Belle I just had to go. The original dining car is still there but the place has been expanded. Sign up front says seat yourself and cash only (neither unusual in a real diner). I picked one of the two tables not already occupied. Menus on the table and a special board visible from all over told me I was in for a good meal. My waitress had a table of 10 but still was friendly and prompt. After reviewing the whole menu I decided on the Not-So-Dinky breakfast, slightly modified. With that big table ordering first I settled in for a wait, but the kitchen staff was great. Mine came out first. One modification was banana walnut pancakes instead of plain. Plenty of banana slices and lots of walnut pieces, covered in butter and powdered sugar. Fabulous. Hope I can make...
