El Paso Mexican Grill - Pontchartrain — Restaurant in Slidell

I initially went to Pedro's tacos and tequila bar near Walmart, but I left. Another couple and I waited to be seated, but no one acknowledged us, so we left. All the workers were by the bar just talking and looking. I'm glad I left and found this little gem. I wanted some birria tacos and a margarita. Let me say El Paso Mexican Grill did not disappoint me. They were delicious!!! I also enjoyed the chips, salsa, and bean dip. The food came out rather quick and yes, it was a slow night, but they did not skip on the quality of food I was served. It was hot and all quite detectable. The hostess and waitress (Lesly) were both very kind. Fyi: The waitress informed me that they have a live band on Thursday and karaoke too. I definitely will be back to try more on the menu and enjoy the live band, too. Don't let the outside fool you and pass them by, I almost did and sure glad I did not. I recommend you...

So happy to have a new restaurant in south slidell....however this was a one and done. Definitely not the same as the other place on Robert rd by same name. Food just so-so. Only thing hot was the plate. Chili relleno barely warm with soggy coating and minimal cheese filling. Sisco type food. Salsa was good Chips not fresh and not made in house.. Did not receive the quacamole side we ordered. We did leave waitress a little extra tip even tho she had no idea what beer on tap meant. she really needed a new pair of jeans. We stopped at El Paso Mexican Grill on our way back to Tennessee as we were in a mood for some mexican. Ariana, our waitress and Jorge, the manager were very cordial, friendly and attentive. All items that we order were delicious. I like spicy food and Jorje said he will bring spicy salsa, and he actually brought out 3 different salsa samplers and when I liked one of them, he gave some to take home.
