Bert's Hot Dog Shop — Restaurant in Smith Township

Just average. Overall the food is good. Usually it takes a long time to get the food though, even when I'm the only customer. I've been there multiple times and they've been out of something I tried to order literally every single time, from burgers to ice cream. The staff is average as well. Not that they necessarily did a bad job, just seem like they really don't want to be there. No smiling, etc. And my own personal pet peeve (I suppose from being a server/bartender for 15+ years) is I always tip atleast 20 percent or more and have never been thanked once. They just look at you and walk away. Also get there an hour before closing because they shut the fryers down. Have been turned away because "they wanted to make sure they were done working on time" in their words an hour before closing. I had really high hopes for this place because I love little family owned stands like this and it's close to home. But after my 4th visit today I don't think I'll be back unfortunately. To end on a good note I have met the owner before (somewhere else unrelated to the business) and he was a really nice, genuine guy. For his sake I hope I've just gotten unlucky when I've gone there. 5 Stars – Great Food, Friendly Service & Perfect Stop

Bert’s Hot Dog Shop is everything you want in a classic hot dog spot. The food is excellent, the service is quick, and the staff is genuinely friendly and welcoming. The chili dogs are huge, foot-long, loaded with flavor, and absolutely delicious. I also tried a chocolate milkshake, and it was honestly one of the best I’ve ever had, rich, creamy, and made just right.

The location is very convenient, with plenty of parking and several picnic tables outside so you can relax and enjoy your meal on the spot. Our food came out fast and fresh, and everything tasted just like it should, comforting, satisfying, and worth every bite.

Highly recommended if you’re in the area. We were very glad we stopped by, and I’ll definitely be returning the next chance I get. Everything about the visit was spot on, 5 stars...

I drove by here during travel for work last week, and it caught my eye. Brought the family out this weekend and we weren't disappointed! I had the chili cheese dog & some fries, the wife split a footlong with our son, had some nachos & cheese, my daughter had a cheeseburger, and the kids split an order of mac n' cheese bites. We also had some Turner's Iced Tea and some apple juice to drink. We had a LOT of food for not very much money, and it was delicious. I think I found my favorite chili cheese dog!
