McDonald's — Restaurant in Smithers

There's reality, there are commercials, and then there's McDonalds in small town West Virginia. I simply cannot applaud this location more. The workers were extremely professional/civil, kind, and quick in processing my order. That, for one, is a rarity in fast food. Even rarer is the quality of the food they brought to my table. Most McDonalds franchises settle with mediocrity--NOT this location! The burgers were actually piping hot as they came fresh off the grill--not from idling for hours in a warmer. The facility was also very clean and we'll kept. I don't expect much from a fast food chain, but this franchise exceeded my expectations for even some higher grade eateries. HIGHLY recommend corporate to reward all workers at this location for their dedicated work and high quality--they have done immeasurable work in upholding the image that is so often seen in advertisements. Pulled up to the drive thru, one person in each lane, I'm in the left one. The right lane gets done, then another car's order is taken in the right lane as well. Finally, the car in front of us in the left lane gets their order taken. We move up get put on hold, two more cars on the right lane go through. Third car in the right lane starts placing their order. At this time 4 cars that came in after us have placed their orders. Not acceptable. I call and ask to speak to a manager, she asks for the manager and I'm able to hear her. The manager tells her to tell me she is a manager. I asked her why she didn't say that 2 minutes ago, she says she forgot she was a manager. I say, you forgot you were a manager? She responds with oh yeah I'm a manager in training.... Not sure who manages this McDonald's, but not monitoring employees handling the drive thru along with requesting your employees lie on the phone shows how well they are...

The atmosphere was very uplifting with a lot of laughter and cheer. It sounded like people who enjoyed their jobs. Staff was very helpful ..and saw to all our needs. There were more staff earlier in the day that were sufficient. However later on a wave of customers came in and there was a line but not sufficient staff available to be adequate. It should be noted the girl working did a great job moving as fast as she could and I felt bad for her and wished I could help. This is not the norm however I'm sure. Earlier any few complaints were quickly appeased and customers were very pleased in the end. Many customers were recognized and addressed by name so it felt warm and friendly. The food was good, what you'd expect from a McDonalds and done quickly, I was happy with it. I'd definitely come here again many times...
