NEW EDIT: As you can see by the reply, the issue is again being twisted on us. Not ONCE did I mention we had an issue with being "cut off," we had an issue in the way that we were treated and how the manager handled it after we called and tried to fill him on in the disrespect we received. Additionally, it's odd and must be some sort of privacy issue that a manager can call out customers in the way that he did almost a week later. Do you personally remember every customer you have and call them out when they leave an unfavorable review? As we told them and will reiterate right now, we understand safety concerns. We said that on the night we were there and on the phone with the manager the next day. What we do not understand is why it would be okay for a manager to allow servers to laugh at customers and then for a manager to speak to us as unprofessionally as he did. Do with our information what you will, but don't bother complaining about anything. Clearly nothing gets done!
I wish that it were possible to give 0 stars. On Friday evening, my friends and I went to the Trap North for dinner and a few drinks as we have done several times in the past. Normally, we have exceptional service (shoutout to Bella) but this time we were met with mediocrity, unprofessionalism, and utter disrespect. After an issue with our server that night, we approached security as we assumed that at that hour there were no managers. The security we spoke to (Gio) was wonderful and was able to help us the best way he could. I can't say the same for our horrible waitress and the other security person who was working at that time. Our waitress and the other person were pointing and laughing at me and my party while we were expressing our concerns to Gio. Not wanting to cause more of a scene, we left and immediately called and left a voice message with management. The next day, after not receiving a call back, we reached out again and spoke with the manager Steve. I can't even begin to explain how incompetent and disrespectful this excuse for a manager was. When we told him our concerns, he twisted our words, said to us "what do you want me to do, go up and fire her?," and essentially mocked the situation. When another member of our party called to see if there was another manager available to speak with, both the hostess and Steve audibly laughed after answering the phone and hearing her concern. The Trap North should be embarrassed for employing such an incompetent "manager" and for the utter lack of respect...
Read moreI had a private event in the stock room, which was beautiful!! The entire building, inside and out, is so well done and aesthetically pleasing. Thatâs basically where the praise ends for me. Service: Our waitresses were nice, but when paying an exorbitant amount for an event, you expect exceptional service, which was not our experience. It started out fine, with the salads and breads being served, but went south quickly from there. The main food was brought out piece meal rather than at once, and many of the platters didnât have a serving utensil. Making matters worse, guests were not given dinner plates until after the food was sitting on the tables for a while, and many started using their tiny salad plates. The food: substandard, at best. I wasnât embarrassed because I didnât prepare it, but so many commented about the dishes not being good that I would have been mortified if I had. The roasted potatoes were basically just warmed, and were hard and raw (we had to send those back because they werenât edible at all), the meatballs had a strange, spongelike texture, and everything else was just ok, but definitely not delicious. Everyone enjoyed themselves, so it wasnât a disaster, but I was truly disappointed with the food and service. Suffice to say, I wouldnât have an event there ever again, which is a shame because the space is truly beautiful.
UPDATE: I initially forgot to mention that they never played music (although I was asked what I would like played) and they had the football game going in our room (not acceptable!). And, upon paying the final balance, I was given a bill for the full amount and had to âremindâ the event coordinator that I had given a deposit of $500. I have decided to change my review from 3 stars to 1 star. I contacted the GM as instructed via their response to my initial review, and it was a waste of my time. I was offered a $100 gift card to compensate for the poor service and substandard food. They can keep it. I will now not even dine in their...
Read moreUsed to go to the Trap in East Greenwich a lot and to the same place before it was even the Trap. Really enjoyed their pizza at that location. Smithfield is the same owner and the same vibe as East Greenwich. However the menu seems more limited and you're really restricted in areas like pizza. You would think something like a pepperoni and mushroom or sausage and mushroom pizza would be pretty straightforward but it's not available there. Their menu is limited to gourmet type pizzas and I guess that's not me. They also change their crust and I used to like their crust. Not sure about most drinks but my wife likes Bloody Mary's and she likes them very spicy. That is a feat few bartenders can accomplish and the Trap was no exception, it was basically tomato juice and vodka. They tried to spice it up multiple times but items like red pepper, Worcestershire sauce, horseradish, things like that that make a bloody Mary great we're non-existent. This was the second time we had been there and the first time we had burgers. Both of us agreed we probably would not order them again. We like ours medium rare and every place pretty well asks how you want them and very few places can actually deliver them how you want them. This time we had French dip sandwiches and we both said they were pretty good. I will say the wait staff was great and extremely attentive. We also went in the evening and initially set on the outdoor patio. However the mosquitoes were absolutely ruthless and the wait staff told us they get eaten alive out there also. I would say most people expect mediocre food at any place that serves pub grub. But please do something about the mosquitoes and get some treatment. You're setting right on a swampy area with all kinds of heavy growth bordering your patio, a perfect breeding ground...
