Tony's Pizza — Restaurant in Smithfield

My family and I have been ordering from this restaurant for over 20 years. My dad was actually friends with the original owners. So it breaks my heart to have to put this review here but it’s necessary considering the way that my food arrived tonight and the health and safety Issue that goes along with it. Pizza arrived via a delivery courier, who advised me that they did not have part of my order so instead put two cookies that were in their original plastic wrappers on top of my pizza inside the box making contact with the pizza I would have eaten. Hundreds of people could’ve handled those two wrapped cookies prior to me receiving them on top of my pizza inside the box making contact directly with the pizza that I would’ve eaten. This is a major food safety and health issue and I am going to report this to the health inspector for Rhode Island that this is how this restaurant is sending out there food orders to customers. This is absolutely unacceptable especially since we just came through a pandemic to actually think that this is OK to send to a customer. My family and I are completely disgusted with the service tonight from this restaurant and we will never be ordering from them again and we highly recommend the restaurant take more care and effort and how they prepare the food that they’re sending out to customers for deliveries. Also, if they do not have an item, they should be reaching out to the customer to let them know they don’t have that item rather than just substituting it for something else and putting a note saying sorry. If I could have given zero stars I would. I wouldn’t feed my animals this food in the manner it arrived. You could get people very sick putting food together in this manner....

Tried as part of this month’s RI Food Fight and boy are we happy we did!! Service was super slow. The gentleman taking the order was clearly new. He did not even know where the napkins were. I get it. Everyone has to be new at some point. I do think though that there should’ve been someone with him though because the ordering process was painful. The pizza then took 35 min to come out. Note there were only two other tables occupied so it wasn’t that they were super busy (although I did see 2/3 people stop by for pick ups also). However, once we tried it I have to say we loved it! If you prefer your pizza on the saucy side this is not the place for you. I prefer it on the light side with sauce so it was perfect for me. The crust was just perfect. Crispy yet doughy inside. We tried the pepperoni, meatball and breaded chicken. That last one was my favorite! I reheated some of the chicken slices the next day in a microwave at work, which as you probably know isn’t always a good option with pizza and it was still delicious!!! Will definitely be ordering for pick up in the future, to avoid...

*UPDATE 08.15.2024 I ordered a large square three topping pizza when it arrived I opened the box to only notice it's a lot smaller in size than it used to be and the three toppings if you would have put them together wouldn't even equal one topping meaning it was so sparse and few between You can just tell the economy's taking a toll as that would be my only reasonable explanation as to why the square pizza is so much smaller and there were very, very few toppings yet I still paid the same full price as it was the last time I was here so I no longer give it a five-star review. //////The food is always fresh made with passion! They even have Vegan cheese now so you can get pizza or vegetable wrap with it. Great portions along with reasonable pricing compared to other area competitors. There are many choices on the menu for all taste buds. Everytime I order it's always accurate and they listen to my special instructions. I can't say enough great things about this establishment including the staff...
