Fat Mo's Burgers — Restaurant in Smyrna

Their burgers taste completely different from how they did before. I don’t know if it’s just me or they changed them but the last two times I’ve gone they didn’t taste as good as I remember. Still good, just not the same. I also wish they would give me a receipt so I can see what I’m being charged for because the price always comes out to be higher than what I expect. I think I was confused about the fries before, I ordered the spicy fries and they didn’t taste spicy but they definitely did taste like curly fries ! I could be wrong but I think the ranch tasted different too, very buttery and salty, but it was still really good. Also, their cherry vanilla shake is just the vanilla shake mixed with maraschino cherries, very delicious. Excellent customer service as well ! I just wish their burgers tasted the same, they used to be PERFECT.

I ordered a little fat mos burger meal with extra mayo and pickles, extra seasoning on my fries, n a root beer light ice, and a side of fried mushrooms. The mushrooms were so hot n fresh, they were still hot as hell when i got home and were really yummy. The burger was perfect honestly no complaints there at all. They only have small and large cups so my root beer was really small but still tasty. The fries were soo disappointing though. I asked for EXTRA EXTRA seasoning on my fries and they literally didnt even have salt on them they were so gross. Response to Owner: I did not order via Uber, I ordered on Storefront by DoorDash and I picked up my order myself. I was early and fixed my drink and sat for 5 minutes before my order was out. When I called, the Manager was too busy talking over me, and telling me the food was supposedto be like that. My food was prepared by someone that doesn't care to give customers quality food and management was ready to defend that without even fully understanding how horrible it really was.

We ordered a catfish sandwich and nashville hot chicken sandwich. The catfish was cooked at too high of a temperature because the ends were completely too hard and the outsided was hard but the inside of the fat part of the fish was mushy, and it didn't have any seasoning and was bland, it was disgusting. The nashville hot chicken was a frozen breaded chicken patty with no seasoning or hot sauce of any kind, just a breaded chicken sandwich with mayo, lettuce, tomato and pickle. I called and was told that's how the fish comes and the customers love it, okay, if you like fish that's somehow crusty and mushy then this is your place. Growing up my family and I used to come to Fat Mo's all the time. I mean an old fashioned burger joint that could give larger chains a run for their money in the middle of Smyrna was amazing. With fresh food pouring from the kitchen every couple seconds. It left very little to imagine how good the food was going to taste. Well and for a lack of better words at the time it was amazing! Fresh! Juicy! All around a great eat!

However 7 years ago I moved away from Smyrna and down to Florida. Coming back to see family on vacation I decided to give my old town favorite a try again. This time I was sorely disappointed.

Starting off there was soda on the floor that made my shoes stick to the floor.

Moving onto the food however I was even more disappointed. The burger I had once so loved was just gone, with a hotdogish flavor, the burger went down begrudgingly. The fries (seasoned per my request) had zero flavor as well. Leaving me wishing I had gone to Five Guys.

All around I was sorely disappointed in this place. Hopefully one day it will be good again, but I don't plan on coming back anytime soon.
