Mingo Twist & Shake — Restaurant in Somerset Township

Stopped today after fishing at Mingo with my son and my fiancé. I ordered half of an Italian hoagie and hot pepper cheeseballs, my fiancé had a pepperoni pizza and my son had the cheese Stromboli. My Italian hoagie was delicious, super fresh toppings and a half alone was huge, more like the size of a whole at other places. I tried my fiancés pizza and it was really good too. I don’t know what kind of cheese they use but it’s excellent! You can tell the dough is super fresh too! My son’s Stromboli was cooked perfectly with a garlic butter Parmesan sauce on it. It was huge and filled with so much cheese he thought it was social media worthy :) Hot pepper cheeseballs were fried to perfection… but wait there’s more . Even though wee were stuffed we HAD to have a treat… I had the most AMAZING banana milkshake I ever had and my son had the pineapple dole-whip, he said it was just like Disney Worlds! I saw some reviews mentioning service, ours was excellent. Our order was taken immediately , our food was done writhing like 15 minutes and to be honest when going to a place like this it’s usually first time job high schoolers who begrudgingly get a job because mom and dad said to. They are getting work experience for the very first time of their life, have patience for goodness sakes. Update - Stopped by Sat, Sept 17, 2022 around 3pm with my wife and some friends for ice cream. It's hard to believe service could have got much worse then 3 yrs ago when I originally posted but it did. We waited at least 20 mins to get our ice cream. The whole staff seemed to be in disarray and in some cases, not know how to make certain specialties. To make things worse, the ice cream wasn't very good; at least, not what it has been in the past. I think I heard or read they may be under new ownership. Their ice cream used to be very good. Maybe, something is wrong with the machine. If it's a training or staffing issue, put up a sign saying such. For me though, two bad service experiences is enough. I won't be back anytime soon. Such a shame.

I stopped here on a Saturday evening around 7pm in June 2019 for ice cream. They have a large selection and it is very good. The issue was the service. It wasn't that busy and I was only one customer back. It took about 10 minutes to be waited on. As I recall, the woman in front of me was ordering ice cream also. They had four people walking around inside but I don't know if they were assigned to the front window, came from the back or were new. I hope the service improves because the ice cream is very good but I'm not waiting that long when I'm only one customer back. I'd say give it a try if your driving by and it you hit...

Love their pizza, foot long hot dogs, fries, and ice cream. Unfortunately, the last few times I’ve come the service has been terrible and I don’t think I’ll be returning. The last time we went, they messed up our order. We didn’t call it in because we live 20 minutes away and didn’t check before we got home, so I’ll take partial blame. The wait was also awful because they were short staffed.

I just drove out to get ice cream. I was the only one in line to order. Another customer was waiting on their order to be made. After 15 minutes of me waiting, unacknowledged, the owner yelled out of the window to the other customer that the soft serve machine was not working and totally ignored me standing right in front of her. Basically got pushed to the side. While waiting for her to figure out how to handle the other customer, I just decided to leave since they couldn’t make what I wanted anyways but a simple “we’ll be right with you”...
