China Lake Restaurant — Restaurant in Somerset

The time I was here was 22 years ago. The food has not improved since then. I ordered sweet and sour chicken. It came to me on a plate with some type of orange color syrup on it and nothing else. I looked at the waitress and she told me that is what I ordered. I was dumbfounded. It sounded ok when I ordered it. My wife sent her entire meal back after two bites. I will never eat again. The staff is wonderful. The food is the worst. The bathrooms floors are sticky and need to be cleaned like they have never been cleaned before. On the way out, I notice the front door is also fility. I am not trying to be mean. It is just my opinion. I will never return to this restaurant even I was offered a free meal. Again I am not trying to be mean, just my observation.. Was our first visit there after a disappointing meL years ago. It was that bad. There's not much good Chinese food around anymore, especially 'old style" Chinese American food. We went on a Friday.midafternoon & was busy for the ONLY (1) waitress running around the diningroom. And this was not a young girl. Very unfair that management expects her to serve a dining room that size alone. WhT if a tour bus stopped in? I haven't been to to many Chinese restaurants lately, but it seems expensive for Chinese food? But I can speak loud & clear Bout it on whether I choose to go back or not!

We ordered crab ragoons, chicken fingers & fried rice. More than enough for 2.. the food was pretty good! 🤤👍

We spent $60 on one appetizer sampler (one egg roll, two chicken teriyaki and three crab Rangoon) one small chop Suey ( which didn't come with hard noodles ) one order of lo mein and one sweet-and-sour chicken meal. Lo Mein was dry and much different than other Chinese restaurant quality. The sweet-and-sour chicken meal came with 4 large pieces of chicken and it came already tossed in the sauce, which made it essentially soggy. More dough then chicken too. We've heard rave reviews on this restaurant and we're very excited to try it But did not meet our expectations and for the $60 we paid we probably ate less then half of the meal.
