Today, i decided to visit a place i hadn’t been to in a very long time bc i have always loved their beignets. I saw a recent post about some sandwich called the hangover and i wanted to try it. I’ve had a particularly hard last week and wanted to sit and enjoy good food, alone, and the atmosphere. I went around 1pm. My receipt says 1:11pm I walked in, and Glenn greeted me - despite being a bit past breakfast he seemed happy to make the hangover. I went and sat, received the beignets immediately. Delicious as always. While sitting and writing some notes … they tried to give me other people’s food 2x, french toast and red beans - both times i said no im sorry im waiting on my hangover sandwich. By 1:46pm i still never received my order and i left, quite disappointed as i had said it on 2 other occasions and truthfully they were not busy. I paid $15.75 and received a drink and an order of beignets. I don’t think i should have to ask 3x for my order and i’ve had a hellacious week, so i left.Rather disappointed and...

My 3 yr old found a hair in her beignets today! I called myself trying to be discreet by whispering and maybe just asking for another batch but because I misspoke about the COLOR of the thread of hair I was met with rudeness. Clerk responded with “we don’t have anybody here with blonde hair” Had the response been different and way more sympathetic, I probably wouldn’t even be typing this review. Kids should not be allowed to handle restaurant issues/mishaps. Regardless of what the actual color of the ashy strain of hair was, common sense would tell a person it didn’t belong to me or my family who are full blooded African Americans with kinky curly brown hair. We certainly didn’t carry an ashy straight piece of hair to a beignet establishment to let my 3 yr old get to it if that was the thought. Absolutely disheartening to have been treated this way in an establishment we frequent with family. We won’t be back or referring my out of town guest to this...

Came here off the rec of a Louisianan, mostly cause they had beignets. I ordered four - two peach, one apple, and one raspberry (the filled beignets come in orders of two but you can request two different fillings). All were very good, though they took a little while to come out and I doubt the fillings were homemade. Pretty cheap, though - $3.75 for two filled. Service is nice but slow about cleaning tables, so expect to eat at a dirty one. Location is ideal for those getting on I-10 out of Gonzales. Would definitely nix the hotel continental to stop by here again.

P.S. I’d definitely recommend getting more tart flavors for the filled beignets. They’re basically donuts with powdered sugar instead of glaze, and the sweetness of the bread is better complimented by tarter fillings like raspberry, cherry, and so on. Only reason why I didn’t grab their cherry filling is because they were out of it. The peach filling is surprisingly good for a non-tart...

I felt like this restaurant and the Cajun village has a lot of potential and the work force to make it a special place. However our quick stop at the coffee house showed it’s not holding itself high. It was very slow late afternoon and they were only serving drinks and beignets. 17.50 out the door for cafe de monde box mix beignets and this mornings cafe au lait stirring like gas station hot dogs. Service was quick and fairly kind, and the dining area fit in with the Cajun vibe. After only a few minutes in though, I was greeted with a lot of yelling from the manager who was very unhappy with the employees lack of work ethic and attentiveness. Going as far as mocking one childishly making myself and two other costumers very uncomfortable. I left soon after and wouldn’t recommend the trip out there. With the right leadership, I feel like the team would feel more confident in their skills and enthusiastic to do their best.

Old building repurposed into a cafe/restuarant. It's very warm at the entrance, order counter. However, the dining area is adequately cooled. Food is mediocre, no service other than the initial food being brought out to the table. Our order was missing beignets, so we asked the server about it when our entrée arrived. She said it's not her station.... 40 minutes later, we had to go and ask if it was being made. Touristy at best.
