Delightful Dishes — Restaurant in South Carolina

Not delightful at all! One of our group of 12 went by Delightful Dishes 2 days before we wanted to go there for lunch to be sure we had a place to sit together since it is a small restaurant. She talked to a young man who said that would be no problem. She went back the next day just to confirm and talked to a young lady who said it would be no problem, and we could even call the morning of if the number changed. Upon arrival and entering the restaurant, where one other person was waiting, we talked to the young man. He didn't know of any reservation. The owner came out and said, in a very gruff manner, "I don't have any reservations on my book today." The young man proceeded to see if he could put tables together to accommodate us. He came back after going around a corner and told us he had 2 tables close together. This is a group of ladies who don't live in the same area and don't see each other every day. We refused to sit separately. The young lady came out of the back and said, "I have the reservation." They continued to tell us we could sit close. We told them we would go somewhere else. There was still only one customer in the restaurant. They let 12 paying customers who would have come back often, and who tip very well, walk out of the restaurant. The lady who made the reservation went in to talk with them after she got there just to be sure they remembered her and to express her disappointment. She had seen other groups of at least 13 in there before. She counted. I had traveled an hour to go to this restaurant, to which I will never return. Such a simple request for what I consider to be basic customer service lost them hundreds of dollars of business one day and much more in the future. One of our group lives in Inman, so we asked her where to go. She suggested Holliday Brewing Co. though she had never been. She called 5 minutes before we arrived. When we walked in, we were treated with great respect, and they already had a table set up for us. The atmosphere was so nice. In the cooler weather, we will probably enjoy the beautiful outside seating. Our waitress was excellent, and the food was amazing, I would even say delightful! It's a shame a little kindness could not be shown to us at...

So, we ordered Thanksgiving Dinner and here is the good and bad. We had Turkey and Ham, the turkey was good, the Ham was really good. The Dressing was ok, not great but the gravy was a little strange tasting, we did not eat it. The Mac and Cheese which we ordered for the kids, I didn't even try until the next day as left over, and WOW...it couldn't have been much better the first because it was outstanding as left over, yummy! Now for dessert, we ordered Carrot cake and Pecan Pie...This is hard, very hard because being from Texas and both my grandma's specialized in each of these, it's hard to compare. The pecan pie, like the gravy it definitely NOT up to standards, not grandma's not anyone's...As for the Carrot Cake, WATCH OUT! That Carrot was Amazing! Best I've had any many years. A little on the over sweet side maybe, but come on Its carrot cake, it can be sweet, right? The cake itself stole the show from the frosting which is saying a lot because this frosting was one of the best I've had in a very long time, but the cake was moist perfectly balanced with all the right ingredients, can't say enough about the Carrot cake. The pick-up of the food was timely, the service to help load it in the car was nice, all in all a...

We had a terrific lunch here. We enjoyed an egg salad sandwich and a chicken salad sandwich . Hard to get excited over that, right? It was fresh, really fresh. It was very simple and tasty. Whenever we go somewhere new I try to look at others folks plates. Everything looked nice. But the salads looked amazing. I'm going back to give them a try.

You arrive to a bright counter with a huge menu on the wall behind the cashier. Place your order, take a number, find an empty table and sit down. Your food arrives after a short wait.

The restaurant is clean and basic. All the workers we met were pleasant and helpful..

There is an awesome display of dessert choice to consider before you leave. And they also offer prepared meals to take home for dinner. When we come back we will bring a cooler to try one or two of...
