Southern Butter Seafood — Restaurant in South Carolina

Classically trained chef here! I came out tonight with no expectations and I was absolutely blown away.

First and foremost, I have never had seafood that was beautifully cooked as I have here at Southern Butter. The wait was expected as this IS a cook to order restaurant. Our waitress was kind and bouncing around the room tending to the many guests present.

Now for anyone expecting a fish camp, don't. There's one in Lake Bowen. I witnessed customers walk out because of the wait and complain about the menu; when I was told in just two weeks the menu changed I was curious as to what the original menu read. To find out that the wonderfully kind owners (Albert and Tan) were getting negative feedback stunned me. As a new restaurant getting their feet on the ground, I have no doubt in my mind with supportive patrons and patience with a hungry belly, Southern Butter seafood can easily become #1 seafood joint in town.

For anyone coming for the first, be prepared to wait for perfection because you'll receive just that. For anyone expecting fried fish, of course it's here but please be considerate to the restaurants ideals and not your own idea of what you're walking into. This is a sit down restaurant, one to bring the family to, make memories, and enjoy a fresh seafood boil, and support your local family owned restaurant--you can taste the love in EVERY bite.

Me, my girlfriend and her mom visited this restaurant there was NOBODY in the whole place but us. We were greeted by a nice young man and there was a lady standing in the back who apparently either owned the place or was the cook never opened her mouth to greet us.

We ordered two fish sandwiches and the Shrimp with the works. The only two items that was good were the hush puppies and I mean they were delicious and the lemonade. The rest was obviously old, salty and just a waste of time and calories.

However as we were getting our check an older guy came in and the lady who never opened her mouth to greet US dropped everything she was doing to wait on HIM hand and foot, iykyk, it was disgusting just like her food. I was appalled, offended and flabbergasted all at the same time because when we saw that there was NOBODY there we started to leave like the one couple did that pulled up and got back in their car but we decided to SUPPORT! HUGE mistake that I will NEVER make again. The young man that served us was polite, kind and attentive. 0/10 do...

The best seafood in town can be found at Southern Butter. Whenever I'm in the mood for seafood, this is the place to go! It was worth the wait to have everything cooked to order!

There is just the right amount of seasoning in the taste. We enjoyed the freshness, flakiness, and crispiness of the chicken tenders, shrimp and fish. Besides being delicious, the steamed broccoli that was Not overcooked was phenomenal.

It is definitely on our list to return to try other items in the future.

We look forward to trying the soups, salads, salmon, and broil. We are excited & grateful for this new resturant that cooks with passion.
