I'm a HUGE foodie. I am also not easily impressed. Lol However, I had the pleasure of having my 1st visit to a new Wine/Oyster Bar establishment that is no where from my house. It has been open 8 months & I was very pleased with everything. From the friendliness meeting the host at the door when I joked & said I didn't realize this was the old library I use to bring all of my children to when they were small. I was chatting it up with a gentleman who was sitting next to me & asked me how was I enjoying my meal. After a few minutes of speaking I found out he was the owner of the establishment & he takes pride in his created dishes. My waitress Lizzi Belle was nothing short of amazing & very personable. While Austin was hard at work shucking my 24 oysters lol we had a nice talk. I enjoyed speaking with Julia the head chef as well & Anderson the manager was constantly moving around & attentive even as I walked out the door to leave. So many great people work at this establishment. The nice ambience, low key vibe & coziness was something that the Irmo/Columbia area needed. The menu is also nothing short of amazing with some of my favs! I didnt get to try them all but some food favs on the menu was charred encrusted brussel sprouts, asparagus, She Crab soup, Oysters (duh), Blackened Salmon, Signature drinks (Plum Crazy Margarita oh my), Oyster Shots infused with bacon. Everything is super fresh & the presentation the food comes out with is perfect. I have a...
Read moreOk. I normally don't do reviews.... Ever. But if you haven't been to George Roberts Wine & Raw Bar ... RUN THERE IMMEDIATELY. This is my 4th time going and I'm about to rant and rave so prepare yourself. They not only have an awesome deal for oysters during happy hour (despite being out of season) but their menu is both unique and the dishes well balanced and borderline inspiring. Between the vodka or tequila based oyster shooters (did I mention they use bacon infused booze!?), the dollar oysters during happy hour, my boyfriend's crab dip with warm pita chips, and the ✨ AMAZING ✨ ahi tuna poke bowl, I am beside myself.
Yes, the oysters are smaller because they are out of season but still an amazing deal. But this salad??? (Here comes the raving...) Between the MOUNTAIN of fresh sushi grade tuna (there's more under what's pictured), the crisp pineapple, and vinegary bite of some kimchi cucumbers among other toppings over a bed of fresh peppery arugula that's tossed in a wasabi ginger vinaigrette (not spicy), it was SO satisfying. I dare even say the best salad I ever had. PERIOD.
Price wise everything is on point with regards to portion and quality. Total without tip came to around 100 dollars.
Our waiter John was super attentive to our table and at the ready with drink refills and very personable.
11/10 easily.
Again, if you haven't gone there...
Read moreIn short, George Roberts is absolutely fantastic. My wife and I ate dinner there last night and were completely blown away. We sat at the bar (full service) and had the best time. Anderson (the owner) was so much fun to talk to and learn about why they chose the location and how it all came together. On top that, we learned they are beginning to serve brunch on Sundays.
Now, let's dive in on what we ordered. We started with a dozen Deep Cove (wild caught) Oysters and the Tuna Tartare. Whew, they are out of this world. For our main course, my wife ate the wedge salad and I had the Tuna Tacos. We added 2 dozen more oysters to our main course (1 Deep Cove and 1 Carolina Gold). All of it was divine. Dessert was their Chocolate Cake and my gosh was it amazing (my only suggestion here would be to take the strawberry glaze and drizzle it around the plate instead of on the cake itself. Would allow for the cake to stay super fresh and the perfect add on as you swipe the bite through the glaze and into your mouth)!
I couldn't be more complimentary of the food and the service. George Roberts has absoultely got it going on. If you've made it this far in my review, I highly suggest you give them a shot. Get there earlier rather than later and be ready to leave with a pleasantly full belly and a smile on your face....
