Listen… if your grandma’s cooking had a restaurant, it’d be Judy Boone’s. Fried chicken? Slaps. Mac and cheese? Soul-healing. This Murrells Inlet gem is serving country comfort with a side of shut up and eat #J#JudyBoonesFamilyKitchenM#MurrellsInletEatsC#CountryCookingS#SouthernComfortFoodF#FoodieFindsB#BuffetStyleF#FamilyDiningS#SCFoodieH#HiddenGemHomeStyleCooking #J#JudyBoonesHitsDifferentC#CountryCookinDoneRightS#SouthernFoodFixM#MurrellsInletEatsF#FoodWithAttitudeH#HiddenGemEatsC#ComfortFoodCravingsG#GrandmaVibesOnlyB#BuffetGoalsFullAndHappy

We tried the place out on BBQ Day. Arrived about 5pm before the big crowds. Big enough place on the inside with plenty of tables but they do fill up and people can wait 35 minutes or more for a table. The price is $15.99 a person for the buffet, drinks not included. Ok, let's eat now...Nice salad bar with the regular fixings and great croutons. Onto the hot bar... We had brisket, ribs, chicken, meat loaf and pulled pork. There is also an assortment of maybe canned vegetables also at the hot bar. The chicken was very good but the rest of the BBQ was acceptable... Not as good as my own BBQ, that's probably because nothing tasted BBQ"d or smoked. The ribs tasted like they were either boiled or just somehow prepared in the oven and then had sauce applied later, no fancy dry rubs... they were ok but nothing special. The chicken tasted good, cooked well and was served in a sticky sauce. The pulled pork was ok, not too fatty, served in a vinegar based sauce and there was a variety of Prosser's bbq sauce to add on the side... but this was lacking that smokey flavor, it was most likely prepared in the oven. The Brisket was waiting next, there it was, sliced up in the warming tray with a uniform well cooked gray color. The Brisket tasted ok, not too fatty, not too flavorful, not smoked and seasoned like I would prefer. I liked the meat loaf with it's ketchup based sauce. So all the "BBQ meats" were acceptable but missing that BBQ or smoked taste that should be present. Onto the desserts... Had some nicely prepared cookies and apple cobbler. Nothing was bad here, not too much was particularly great here either. On the next morning, when thinking about the meal, I mentioned that I probably wouldn't return again. I left the restaurant feeling full but not satisfied. The fare was like the regular buffet food found most everywhere.

Oct 19th, 2024 Still love this place! Consistently good southern comfort fare. I have never been disappointed. Meals are tasty. Place is immaculately clean. Do your belly a favor and stop by here. Nov30th, 2023 Update: Love this place. Consistently great Southern comfort foods. Not your typical seafood buffet - this is a Southern Comfort buffet. Meatloaf, collards, fried chicken, chicken bog etc. The food is well cooked, tasty, hot and plentiful. Staff is welcoming. Food is great. Price is reasonable. Visited for the lunch buffet on Thursday November the 3rd 2022 at around 2pm. I knew it was a good sign when I saw that the parking lot was packed with SC vehicles. We were seated quickly and our waitress was quick with drinks and refills. The buffet was well stocked and hot. The was a salad bar with a good selection. Other options were bbq, meatloaf, Fried fish, southern fixings. I tried a broad sampling and the food was good. I will be back next time I am in the Murrells Inlet vicinity.

Wish we had this place in Nashville TN! Food was excellent; perfect textures, seasoning; not over or undercooked! Large variety...something for everyone of every palate! I am not a big hush puppy person, but these were crunchy, moist, flavorful and the perfect size for popping them in your mouth, one by one! Omg...the pinapple cobbler; so buttery, moist and delicious...not too sweet! Everything was clean and beautifully decorated for the holiday season. They had 3 large dining rooms, plus party rooms and a separate bar on the opposite side of the lobby; yet everything felt quaint and cozy, due to the overall layout. We ended up eating here every day of our trip, because the variety was everchanging and you couldn't beat their prices, atmosphere...or the taste! The staff were so friendly and quick to meet your culinary needs; our glasses were never empty and our coffee stayed hot! This will definitely be the first and last place we visit on our next trip to the Myrtle Beach area.

We chose to try Judy Boone’s for dinner because sometimes with a toddler, buffets are just easier. Thursday night was brisket night so away we went! We were told at 20 min wait around 6:15pm so I walked around to see the buffet offerings. Less than 5 mins later my buzzer went off and we were seated. There is a good variety of items on the hot bar from chicken and dumplings to fried chicken, pulled pork and more. The salad bar was nice with two kinds of fresh greens and plenty of toppings. Only thing we thought missing was some hard boiled egg topping. Brisket for the special was delicious! And while the dessert offerings were limited, those brownies were so fudgey that we didn’t need anything else! The fresh whipped cream (on the salad bar) was to die for! We initially bemoaned not having ice cream for the brownies but quickly changed our tune when we topped them with the whipped cream. Seems like a place that mostly locals go to, so don’t miss out on your next trip to the inlet!
