Pizza was not bad. Kids behind counter were pretty friendly. Small, local place that has carved out a niche in a crowded pizza market. Its similar to Blaze, Mod, and that type of pizza place but with a little bit of a local flair. One of my party has celiac disease - so care must be taken around wheat or she gets sick. Most pizza places get this and offer gluten free crust at an increased price and take care when handling (new gloves, different cooking tray, etc). Knead also thankfully offers GF crust! Yay. In the past, Knead has been pretty good about the handling part as well. However, this night they grabbed a pizza pan (sheet? tray? - the metal thing they put the dough on) and set it on the counter from normal stack of pans. It had large, easily visible, dough baked onto the pan. My partner asked if they could use a different pan because of the crumbs of gluten-y dough. They picked up the pan, knocked it on the counter to knock off the crumbs and continued. When she asked again, the reluctantly grabbed a new one from the same shared pile and carried on. Of course, she got sick. Eating in a pizza restaurant is a risk for someone with Celiac. But may places charge extra to cover their manpower and ingredients. That usually means you can be pretty sure they are being careful. That usually means, new gloves, a new GF only tray, and sauce that isn't applied using a ladle that also is rubbed all over gluten dough. Some places do all, most places do at least the first and second. Knead just did the first. And then seemed upset. We want to support Knead, we like Knead, but we can't go back unless they offer some better training to their employees. However, if you do not have a gluten allergy, its worth a try. It isn't my favorite tasting pizza but it certainly competes well with the likes of Blaze and similar 'made to order, personal pizza' type...
Read moreI went there for lunch about a week ago . We went on a Tuesday for the lunch special. I was telling Chris one of the employees making my pizza . I wanted extra sause please , I asked twice and he wasn't listening. So I reached my hand and he Screamed at me about not reaching over DHEC policy. I said if you had listened to me when I asked politely twice about extra sauce. And I understand about DHEC policy but I would never had screamed at the customer. I work in the restaurant business for over 15 years I know customer service I worked for tips...Then the manager said he just sounds loud being a guy .. I said yea ok whatever. My coworkers and myself will never go back there again after that experience.. His name was chris !! Very Rude!! Local business need their customers to support them , they should not treat them this way... That's why it is so hard for local businesses to stay in...
Read moreDon't expect to get your monies worth if the owner prepares the pizza ...because she uses very little meat on the pizza... Sauce is thinly put on..lettuce or whatever veggies are being used as well as cheese..very sparingly used..really hate that because the pizza is good..if the regular help prepares it your in for a properly prepared pizza and a treat..just choose your times wisely or you may feel your missing out on something...Again in October just went back...what a MISTAKE! I think the owner needs the food more than the customers do, as I only got 1 piece of chicken on my chicken bite and only a couple of pieces on my Carolina Bar B que...as many times as we have been in there...my money won't be going in there anymore...you can keep it, I dont need...
