I understand that Tacos Nayarit is new to the Cayce, SC area and that it can take time for a restaurant to work out the kinks that come with opening. That said, my experience left me both disappointed and confused.
Technically, this was my second attempt at visiting. The first time, the line was out the door and I was told there would be a 45-minute wait, so I left and went elsewhere. Based on that crowd, I assumed this was a sit-down dining experience, so I was surprised when I finally returned and discovered it was more of a fast-casual setup, similar to Chipotle, Qdoba, or Moe’s.
There were no visible menu boards when I walked in, so by the time I got to the front of the line, I wasn’t really sure what to order. I went with the quesabirria because I’d seen it advertised online, plus a side of chips and guac, and a Diet Coke.
After ordering, I was handed a numbered table marker and watched as my tray liner was marked with the same number - only to watch the staff hand my entire order off to another customer. I then had to wait while they remade everything.
To make matters worse, when I was given my drink, it came in a cup with a lid but no straw. When I politely asked for a straw, I was brushed off by staff who seemed overwhelmed or uninterested.
On the bright side, the food itself was flavorful and served at the right temperature. But at over $28 after tax for one person, for what is essentially fast-food, it felt wildly overpriced, especially given that I could have had a similar meal (with full service) for half the price at several other local restaurants.
The layout and operations added to the confusion. There’s what appears to be a full-service bar, which feels out of place for this type of setup. The bartender didn’t seem particularly attentive, I saw multiple customers leave after failing to get her attention. Even more concerning, the hallway leading to the restrooms was cluttered with bar supplies, which felt unsafe (potential fire hazard) and unprofessional.
I did eventually stumble upon a salsa bar hidden in a corner near the bar while trying to figure out where to throw away my trash and return my tray. That lack of signage or direction really summed up the experience: disorganized and underwhelming.
I truly hope the issues I encountered are just growing pains that will be smoothed out with time, because the food shows promise. But for now, my visit left a lot...
Read moreI admit the food is good to me but customer service today was awful. One of the ladies who were taking our order is very rude and she needs an attitude adjustment and definitely some patience when it comes to people who does not speak spanish. As my mom and myself was ordering she had her head tilted to the side like she was annoyed as I'm giving her my order as well as showing her what I want from the menu. But as soon as she took the next customers order she showed not one drop of annoyance or attitude because those customers were Hispanic. Also the language on the menu should be diverse for those of us who does not speak spanish. I tried this place once before and told my mom about it and said I would bring her here and I did as said because the food is actually good but that lady attitude towards us black folks pissed me off. The food on the menu did not look like what it appeared to in our to go boxes. I thought the food was good however my mom was not pleased. I do not care how good the food is I definitely won't be spending my money in an establishment who doesn't treat me or any other person who is non Hispanic with respect.
Also I just read another review that went through the SAME thing my mom and I just went through. If I could give this restaurant a...
Read moreEmployee allowed a woman to cut in line in front of me. If you have ever visited this establishment, you are aware there are 2 entrances. However, most people enter in the main entrance because in busy times the line will curl around the wall. As I stood in line awaiting my turn, a female walks up (entering from the back door) and begins to edge toward the counter as if she was next. She then preempted what she knew would be a negative interaction inquiring whether or not I was with the gentlemen in front of me. When I responded that we were separate, she proceeded to begin to order her once he completed his order. I explained to the employee and the rude female patron that she was in front of me. We exchanged a few words and she continued to talk over me to the employee. I chastized both women stating how disrespectful it was to allow her to order before me when she came in after I was in line. The employee's response, "who knows what order will come up first". It is her responsibility as an employee to be attentive to the line an who comes in what order. She obviously did not care.
Instead of causing a scene or laying hands on this rude and ignorant customer, I left the establishment without ordering or chopping both women down to size! No worries! I...
