Taste The Flavors — Restaurant in South Carolina

Don’t get me wrong, the food is phenomenal but my absolute favorite aspect of Taste The Flavor is the incredibly outstanding customer service. From the initial greeting when you walk into the restaurant until you leave, it’s quite literally like interacting with the jovial & funny cousins that you always want to be around. This staff is second to none. Their genuine kindness, easy nature, quick wit, & honesty is the epitome of quality customer service. My mom & I immediately felt like we were enjoying a meal with family. We have officially adopted the staff as family! Absolutely love it here & we will return to enjoy great food & fellowship with our new “cousins!”

Now let’s talk about the food! This is soul food done RIGHT. Too many times, a “soul food” restaurant lacks actual soul…aka love & proper seasoning. That’s not an issue at Taste the Flavor. The food is seasoned perfectly & the portion sizes are beyond generous. It’s like having Sunday dinner at Big Mama’s house.

The vegetables (collards, cabbage, beans, etc) are usually cooked with meat so if you are vegetarian ensure you asked about the preparation before ordering. I asked & was informed that the vegetable selection was cooked with turkey on that day. There are several options for vegetarians to choose from. Major kudos for this because vegetarian options at soul food restaurants can be hard. I think I may have developed an addiction to their Hoppin John & potato salad lol

Oooooh I would be remiss if I didn’t talk about the speciality lemonade drinks! OMG absolutely scrumptious 😍🥰 I had the apple flavored lemonade (it’s green) & I don’t remember which one mom had (it’s red). I may also have developed a special attachment to the speciality...

Wow! I never knew this place existed until today. And until today I never knew just how good my food could taste either! Leaving here with both disbelief AND 2 extra dinners to go for tomorrow night :)

Yes it was THAT good I’m telling you! In fact, to just say it was good is actually an insult. It was absolutely SPECTACULAR!

And my opinion means something as because of an illness, my wife can’t cook any longer so we only eat out / take out. Twice a day. For 8 long years now. So for us it’s a been there, done that thing eating out. In short NOTHING excites us anymore.

Let me warn you ahead of time, the place ain’t much to look at. May be tempted to pull up and pull out. Best described as a hole in the wall. But if you dare reach in that hole, you will pull back some of the finest food cooked on this planet!

What the owners may lack in decorating skills, they sure make up for with their cooking skills! And if you don’t get the oxtails, you are missing out on something unbelievably good :)

This place is amazing! My 1st time eating from here and definitely won’t be my last. I ordered (2) plates; pork chop, mac & cheese and cabbage, no pic because once I open my plate, it was over lol! I ate every single bite and enjoyed it. The 2nd plate was hamburger steak (2 patties) w/gravy, yellow rice and green beans, each meal comes with cornbread which was nice and moist. The atmosphere was so nice, clean and inviting. Very friendly folks inside and great service. It smelled delicious in the restaurant! I knew this was going to be a great experience. The portion sizes are large and the name of this restaurant speaks volumes! The food was seasoned to perfection, each bite reminded me of a good home cooked meal. I’ll definitely be back to try more food and some of those delicious looking desserts! 5-star restaurant experience easy! These folks are cooking up some good soul food, food so good brought back memories of my Grandmother’s kitchen. Thank you Taste the Flavors…and did!...
