Anyone who knows me knows that I avoid the west side of Spartanburg at all cost. They also know there is no distance I will not drive to get something that I want. I have been known to make a special trip to Greenville every 3 months or so to get a certain kind of Brussel sprouts from Trader Joe's. I saw a post on one of the local restaurant sites on Facebook showing a picture of a cup of coffee that I was drawn to. It was at The Hidden Bean. I made a remark on that post asking the name of the particular coffee drink and the owner replied. One day when I absolutely had to go on the west side of town I went by there to get one of these cups of coffee and they were closed. Making a mental note of the hours I decided I would return again one day when I was in the area. I was passing through the west side of town today on my way to Greenville to get a 4 inch birthday cake for my husband at Strossner's Bakery and stopped by The Hidden Bean. The thing was, it had been weeks if not months that I inquired about the name of the cup of coffee and I had forgotten what it was. I told the owner that I had asked him in a Facebook post what it was and that he had answered me but I could not find the post. We determined that it might have been in a Spartanburg Eats or Eating in Spartanburg Facebook page because we could not find the post on my Facebook page or their Facebook page. At this point with so much time already invested in this one cup of coffee I would not be outdone by ordering something other than this particular cup of coffee. Then, tada, the owner found it on his phone and told me that it was a Cortadita. It was a hot sweet latte coffee made with a Cuban espresso. Normally I would have liked to have sat down in this quaint little gem of a place and savored this cup of coffee leisurely but I was in a hurry to get to Greenville and back so I got it to go. Once in the car and on the road heading to Greenville I took my first sip of this decadent luxury and felt myself swoon. It was as rich and robust as the picture in the Facebook post. I had to call them immediately and tell them that it was worth the drive and all the trouble for the owner and myself. You can thank me later for this information because you will be taken aback by just how good a cup of coffee can be. Picture me riding down Interstate 85 in busy traffic with my tongue reaching down the inside of this cup trying feverishly to get the last bit of froth that was clinging to the sides, tapping the cup on my steering wheel to get the last few drops to consolidate into something I could get into my mouth like my life depended on it. You...
Read moreWent to their instagram and the first thing I saw was an âemergency closureâ post with the following caption: âFriends we are closed for the rest of the day. Unfortunately, someone who promised to be at work today, decided to blow us off and leave us hanging for another job with ZERO NOTICE. Sadly this happens.â Terrible look for a company and just from that post, without knowing anything else, you can tell the people in charge here are jerks. Iâve been before and the coffee was bad, but I was willing to give them another shot since I live nearby. Now that I saw this, I definitely wonât be going back. Thereâs no excuse for this unprofessionalism.
UPDATE- they proved my exact point with their reply. There is truly no level of decorum in the way this âownerâ speaks to people, customers and staff alike. Also, I donât personally know the person they are referring to here, and leaving a bad review is in NO WAY âillegalâ. I had a great laugh...
Read moreToday, my boyfriend and I went here. The Hidden Bean is a cute perfect name for this place. I had no idea it was here. He got a tiramisu latte and I got an americano. They had sugar free syrups and non dairy milk options. Both of our drinks were delicious and served in glass cups. It was so cute! We sat outside. It was beautiful out. The burgers from upstairs smelled delicious! The patio had cute string lights and a heater which I assume they use at night which looked super cute also. They had Apple Pay which was an awesome surprise. The girl who took our order and brought it to us was super sweet and informative about their menu. She was patient with us while we decided what to order since it was one first time there. This place is super adorable! You should definitely check it out. Itâs way quieter than a Starbucks. We sat outside away from all the noise talking and enjoying our drinks. This was a great experience. Go...
