If you want to experience it like it was a year or two ago when COVID was a safety concern back then, then this is the place. They are maintaining the gloves and plastic bag gloves and health stations in the place as you serve yourself. Limited ac unit working or kept low running. We sweated a lot there and we're used to not having an ac unit working in the car at this time. Decent servings including cake slices in the corner shelves and fat back pork plus a great salad bar from yesteryear. Most patrons are elderly people and retirement aged. Little to no young people are eating there unless they are accompanied by their elder. Service is top notch so is the cooking. They got a venue for events and lots of church pews outside of the building in the overhang since it once was a church. Music is oldies station hits from the 50s 60s and 70s. COVID safety procedures shields at register and decent candy at the counter. Side door access only. We thought it was closed up at the front door until we realized we had to walk all the way around the side door and then enter. It appears to be a former furniture store as well with excess couches and chairs around the waiting area. Little to no crowds idk how they stay in business with fewer customers coming in at the younger people and families are not going here unless they want to avoid the crowds. I recommend it for those that like space for eating and no crowds and no one eating right up on your table like the chain restaurant. They close early so get in as soon as possible. There's no labels for the food so you gotta guess what it is and what's in it by looking at it. I grabbed the wrong meat and ate it to avoid looking like a waste of meat since I can't eat pork due to an...
Read moreUpdated 4/7 2023 been calling since 11am almost 2pm phones busy, i know they are not that busy..just lost a customer.
foods good most of them time waitress is slow about bringing tea refills, workers tend to congregate out in the dining room and talk to customers in very loud voices. mentioned it to owner oh hes been here for yrs, well keep him in the kitchen 40 minute breaks shouting to other customers makes dining in in peace and quiet impossible. 10/1/2017 update ate sunday dinner in there place was busy worse waitresses in the world but then again 2 people working on sunday is pitiful. Asked for tea refill noticed i was passed by everytime waitress was near my table 15 minutes still no tea. Food was terrible meats were borderline spoiled turkey was frozen left over. Could tell by taste got up and paid left told the lady at register of course she could care less. Told her this was my last dime trotters would get from me. 1/16/2018 do not go in this cafe after 3 or 4 pm food is awful cold and like a brick after laying out all day. Everythings cold waitress left no waitress had to get my own refills. At checkout lady asked you wanna leave a tip on your card i asked why should i theres no...
Read moreWe live about 45 minutes away and decided to give Trotters a try because it was a beautiful day and we were up for a drive. I'm so glad we did! Their fried chicken, fried wings, fried fish and baked fish are outstanding! The hush puppies were delicious. We also had Mac and cheese which was pure heaven with the slightly crispy browned top. My husband had mashed potatoes with gravy and a side of green beans while I went for the greens and potato salad. Everything looked and smelled so good that we wanted to try a little bit of everything. We ate way more than we needed but it was all just too good and very reasonably priced for a buffet. The food was constantly being monitored for refills and everything was very hot. These folks are really on top of everything. If you are in Clinton (or anywhere in the Upstate) and looking for a great meal, stop by Trotters. You won't be sorry...unless you...
