Lewie's Burgers & Brews — Restaurant in South Dakota

What a wonderful place to eat! We were looking for a place at 10 o'clock at night and this was one of the few places open that allowed anyone under 21.

The food was absolutely excellent. Between the four of us, we had cheese balls, onion rings, the shrimp basket, the roast beef sandwich, and a cheeseburger. Every meal was DELICIOUS! The meals ran between $6 and $9 apiece.

Our server Derek had only started two days before and we couldn't even tell! He told us and we were very surprised. Hr did an excellent job of making sure we were satisfied with both our meal and Lewie's as a whole.

The atmosphere was wonderful. Very open and friendly, even at 10 o'clock at night with a 10 year old in tow. Though it is a bar with food, it is very family friendly. There were smiling faces everywhere.

The decor really gave you something to look at! There are old alcohol advertisements, chain and hand saws hanging near the bar, and old mine cars lining a ledge on the ceiling. There are also 44 flat screen televisions with every sport that's playing on them!

Lewie's is definitely a place to stop if you're passing through, on vacation, or even a local looking for a new place to eat! I can't...

Lewie’s Burgers in Lead – Not the Best Night Out

After a long day of work, we were really looking forward to winding down with a good meal. Lewie’s had come recommended, and we were excited to give it a try. Unfortunately, our experience just didn’t quite live up to the hype.

The place was busy, which we totally understand—but it took quite a while just to get seated and even longer to get drinks and food. The staff seemed a bit overwhelmed and not super friendly, which made the wait feel even longer.

Once the food finally came (about 30+ minutes later), it was... okay. Everything was extremely greasy, and one order of onion rings came out completely burnt. To their credit, they did discount those, which we appreciated. But overall, for nearly $40, the meal felt more like rushed bar food than something worth waiting for.

We know that every place has off nights, and this might have just been one of them. But based on this visit, we’d probably look elsewhere next time we’re in the area.

Party of 10. We've been stopping here for 4 years now. We've had bad experiences with bartenders over the years. They just aren't overly friendly. That's what stopped us from eating here in the past. We were never in a hurry but never stayed for more than one drink because of the bartender. This year again, not a friendly bartender.

The mornings we stopped for Bloody Mary's we had a super friendly lady who grew up in Minnesota. She took great care of us again this year! The outdoor seating is great. They have nice flowers around the deck.

We finally came for dinner one night. We had such a great time at Lewie's! The burgers were amazing, but our server Joe really made the night. He’s witty, playful and full of personality — he teased our table just enough to keep us laughing and matched our energy perfectly. Can’t wait to come back when he’s working! He even handled the joke about him being on fire. We loved your attitude, Joe!
