I too was a frequent customer of Tony’s pizzeria for many years. Not only was I a customer, but a neighbor. First of all, this is not Tony’s.
When Al opened his business, it filled void in our community that has lasted for the last two years. I was so happy when Tony passed the torch to this new, invigorated businessman. The building looks amazing. Everything is updated and up to par by anyone’s standards of local pizzerias
Since they opened last week, I have had three different meals there ranging from a simple single slice to a full dinner and a salad. The service is great, the food is good, and these guys are doing a fine job of not only honoring Tony’s legacy, but carving out their own niche in the local restaurant world. This is especially difficult in a time and an industry that is permanently scarred by Covid policies and New Jersey politics.
I noticed one reviewer wrote something a little sub-par. To other reviewers, I would say this place has only been opened for one week; give them a little bit of grace. Everyone has growing pains. Instead of blasting this business online and doing irreparable damage to their Google profile instead, Scratch your suggestion on a napkin and pass it across the counter to the staff. Give these guys a little time and this place is going to be awesome because they are already on the right path and doing way better work than I have seen out of other local pizzerias.
Help theses guys grow their business because especially in these parts, that’s a tall order. Nice work, Avonna’s! Keep up...
Read morePizza was average. Can’t say it was delicious nor can I say it was bad. What bothered me was that my cold hoagie was served in a sealed plastic container with hot French fries. I’ve never seen this done before anywhere. I mean who wants a cold sandwich that has been suffocated by steaming hot fries. On top of that, all I wanted was the hoagie but you have to pay for the fries because unfortunately you can’t just get the sandwich without the fries. You should be able to buy the fries separate if you want to or have them omitted and not pay for them. They would not allow that.
Also, I ordered an American hoagie and was asked what kind of cheese I wanted. Well the last I checked an American hoagie always came with American cheese. Either way once I got back and sat down to eat there wasn’t any meat at all in the sandwich. Just cheese, lettuce, tomato, and onions.SMH.
THIS WAS MY FIRST TIME HERE AND I WOULD PROBABLY SAY THE LAST. I’LL JUST STICK WITH THE PLACE THAT I HAVE BEEN GOING TO FIVE MORE MINUTES...
Read moreWe've known Tony since the 70's so we had to try the new place. We got Meatlovers Pizza, Garlic Knots and an Italian Hoagie. Garlic knots were great. Hoagie not so much. Tasted ok but it was Boiled Ham, Salami, provolone and the pepperoni they put on the pizza. NOT AND ITALIAN HOAGIE!! Meatlover consisted of pepperoni and sausage. Again NOT a meatlovers. And it was very spicy. It had a weird taste due to a spice that I'm not familiar with and should not be on pizza. It upset our stomachs. Some may like it. Just not for us. Back to Guinto's. meatlovers. Sausage, pepperoni, bacon, ham, salami. THAT is a meatlovers. I wish Avonna"s the best. Its...
